By the time the final meeting had concluded before lunch, I was mentally and emotionally drained. All I wanted was to find her, I can't believe I lost her before having her. It can't be just memories. "Adam, I could use a —"Before I could finish my request Adam informed me that Harry Winston is requesting to see me. I let out an annoyed sigh, just the thought of dealing with Harry right now send another spike of irritation through me.
Barely had a chance to respond when the office door burst open, and there stood Harry, a wide grin plastered across his face. "John!" he bellowed out, his voice cutting through the quietness of my office. "I was just in here to meet Donald, thought I'd stop by to see how you're holding up. "I smiled back, I can't stand anything today but the man is a good one.
"Everything is superb, thank you for asking." I ringed Adam, requesting two cups of coffee.
"I must tell you, I argued with Donald when he told me about this little rivalry between you and Charlie, But you know your father like to challenge and have fun." Harry said.
"He sure does." I said and sighed. Harry was one of the few true friends my father had. Despite his extroverted, loud demeanor, which may be over the top at times, this man is a legend with his multinational technology corporation. Also, one of the few people I tolerate talking to. Not today, though.
Dark-colored, bitter coffee lay cold on the table between us. What could go wrong with a basic espresso drinks? I cursed cautiously as I took a single sip before shifting focus to Harry.
"I won't keep you for long; I'm here to help you. You know I've never liked Charlie; you're my favorite, and I've got a proposition for you that I believe you'll be interested in." He said, dropping his popular smile.
It peaked my interest a little. Anything to get Valeria out of my head. Impossible.
"You know, I've always respected my team's privacy. No one knows who really are my shining knights."
For years, the entire field struggled to figure out the highly intelligent team that backed him. Harry had an impulse of hiring the finest team, especially his close associates. The only information available to the public was that his team consisted of five people who managed everything in his corporation.
The enigma of this old man, who is one of the few well known businessman worldwide, is the same man who never made his private life public, and it appears that all of his employees believe the same thing.
"One significant knight will not accompany me in London, my assistant. If you truly believe you want this chair, you must have Gonzalez with you."
This is the first time a name has been assigned to any of his team. "You're willing to give up one of your people?" Harry smiled, sighing loudly.
"I didn't want to, but Gonzalez refused to move. I was surprised because you are aware that my staff is carefully selected and has been kept concealed for decades. But I like the kid; a hard worker who will truly help you."
I grinned back and replied, "I'm sure he's the best, but I've already hired Adam." Harry chuckled. He returned his attention to the glass door that separated my office from Adam's.
"I am positive he is. Gonzalez is not an ordinary assistant, and comparing them is actually insulting. I am not offering you anyone; If not Gonzalez wish to remain here, I won't let it even happen. Trust me, kid, to win this, you need a knight, not an assistant who can't even fetch a decent cup of coffee."
