Here's a thought, if you were to fail to deliver the egg to a Professor that was about to give you a starter Pokemon that you'd grown attached to, provided you could prove that you were trustworthy with a simple task, such as delivering an egg, what would you do? Would you try to deliver the egg anyway, even with the shell cracked and the yolk dripping out? Would you try to deliver a rock in its place, Indiana Jones style? Would you say you lost the egg? Or would you just be honest? And if you were honest, do you think Professor Elm would allow you to go on a journey with his starter Pokemon?
