The ancestors of the Arbor Wolf were originally a singular pack of Dire Wolves that stumbled upon a parasitic, carnivorous ivy. The usual victims of said ivy, however, were much smaller, weaker creatures. After several generations of struggling with sickness and madness, the two species eventually settled into a symbiotic relationship. Centuries later, Arbor Wolves are just as much plant as animal. The plant part of them offers incredible longevity and endurance through photosynthesis, letting them run at speed almost endlessly and giving them several centuries of lifespan. They are also extremely difficult to kill, as they can fully regenerate as long as their core remains intact.
