Chapter 4
In Between
My next few weeks were uneventful. Nothing unusual happened. I guess you could say I had a normal life. Autumn and I were like real sisters at this point. We’d gone to the mall a few times and we hung out all the time. As for Ady? She’s basically my best friend. Turns out even though she can stand up to bitches, one of her friends had ditched her and the other had moved so I came at the perfect time. We did homework together at her house since Maya had something against guests for absolutely no reason.
Ady basically lived in a mansion, which I guess is to be expected if she could afford Ivy Ridge. Sometimes we would see her older brother Jayden who never paid any attention to us. Her parents were never home, always on business trips, leaving Jayden in charge. Eventually I got it down to a ritual; Go to school, come home from school, go to Ady’s, do homework, hang out, go home, sleep. I felt so safe, so regular. So regular that I almost forgot about May’s letter. Keyword there is almost. For a while I let it sit in the back of my mind until I got home early since Ady was busy with a family thing so I lay down, and my brain decided it was time for my daily dose of weirdness.
