I slowly opened my eyes and surveyed my surroundings. The place was unfamiliar; I lay upon a luxurious bed, and it struck me that I was in a hotel. My dirty clothes had been replaced, and as I attempted to move, I felt stitches on my stomach.
"Easy there, we don't want to reopen that wound," said a girl with short, green hair that gently brushed against her neck. Her stature was petite, and she possessed large, obsidian eyes that shone with a childlike innocence. Her delicate features and small build gave her an almost ethereal presence, exuding a quiet strength and compassion despite her youthful appearance. She approached me, and I thought aloud, Aren't you a kid? The girl moved closer. "I'm twenty-five," she raised her eyebrows.
"Twenty-five?!" I exclaimed in shock.
"Yes, twenty-five. We're the same age," she scoffed and left the room. A giggle emanated from outside. Just when things couldn't get worse, I rolled my eyes, and White entered.
"So? What's your answer?" he inquired, his persistence grating on me. I was fed up. "I refuse, and I'm not helping you."
"Why?" he asked, his curiosity almost childlike.
Something about this man's aura gives off a disturbing vibe, I thought, making my gut twist and my instincts scream in unease.
"I have my own reasons. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm leaving." I got up and went to the door. "Oh no, sweetheart, we're not done here yet," White said, glaring at me. I knew I was in no position to make any rash moves in my current state. "Sit," he ordered. I complied, sitting on the bed while he leaned against the wall in front of me.
"I told you, Violet, I always get what I want. Even if I have to play dirty," he said, pointing his gun at me. I had no choice. If I had been left to die in that cold rain, it would have been a mercy. "What's your proposal?" I asked, my tone icy and my eyes flashing with anger.
"That's good. Well, I want to destroy this 'Fox Group,'" his emerald eyes gleamed with excitement.
"I decline," I shook my head. I can't bring myself to destroy anything connected to Maxine. If I did, I might as well drop dead rather than assist this man.
"You're really stupid," his words dripped with disdain, though a smirk played at the corner of his lips. "Pardon?" I raised an eyebrow, confused.
"You really thought your daddy assigned you to this Maxine girl mission just to make you feel like a normal human being or something?" he continued, his tone dripping with mockery. "Sorry to break it to you, but he wanted to destroy you before you could destroy him. He knew Maxine was the perfect bait to impact you easily, so he and the ‘Fox’ made a deal to kill Maxine in order to break you both mentally and physically," he paused, adding something I had never anticipated. "And what's ironic is that Maxine knew the plan and decided to play the fool." His voice was as cold as ice, his face expressionless.
I stared at him in disbelief; my entire world shattered at that moment. "NO, NO, NO-" I screamed, feeling the weight of betrayal. Maxine would never- I looked at White, but he remained indifferent. "Who would've thought that the unstoppable Violet was one step behind?" White mocked. That's when I finally broke. I hated them. I hated every single one of them… but mostly, I hated myself. My heart ached. I felt every bone in my body being crushed like paper. My breath became unstable. I felt like I was going to throw up.
White stepped closer. "You want revenge? You want to kill them all? Just say the word, and your wish will be my command," he murmured, his tone disturbingly sweet. A shudder ran down my spine. I was lost… Do I destroy or self-destruct? My mind was a chaotic mess. What if he was lying too? What if this whole Maxine thing was just a trick? For the first time, I was overwhelmed by emotions I couldn't process. It was numbing, feelings meant only to weaken me... They existed to shatter me into irreparable pieces. What should I do? The voices in my head were deafening.
