I Became a Farmer After the Dungeon Break (Hiatus)

Dimensional Farm

Dimensional Farm

Aug 10, 2024

Freyr walked over and opened the mailbox. Inside, there were two envelopes.

One of the envelopes had a beautiful red wax seal with a tree. The other didn't have any indications of who it was from.

He decided to open the mail with the wax seal first.

. . . . .

To the person who opens this letter,

Congratulations on obtaining the Dimensional Farm. You are now my successor.

I had spent hundreds of years caring for this farm, but my soul grew weary. By the time you see this, the weeds, trees, and rocks may have taken over the farm, but that is okay. You have the tools to turn this dimensional farm back to its former glory.

I have also left all the facilities to you. You can design them to your liking.

I cannot tell you why you have inherited my farm or why this dimensional farm exists. For now, do your best to complete the tasks on the bulletin board and farm to your heart's content.

Conquer the stars, my little successor.

From,

Your newly appointed Master

. . . . .

Freyr didn't know what to say after reading the letter. He awakened as a farmer and now had a master he had never met. Freyr was forced to be the successor of this dimensional farm...

Well, he loved to play farming games, so this was just taking his passions to the real world!

Freyr remembered the other letter and opened it. It had 1000 gold coins, which automatically went into his inventory, and a book. The gold coins had the same tree that was on the wax seal while the book was called a "handbook." When he opened it, he saw that it had introductions to each facility, how to use them, and what upgrades he could buy.

With the money, he could use it to buy seeds to plant, food for his tamed monsters, upgrade buildings or buy new ones. He could also buy decorations for the farmhouse and the inn he could unlock. There were other things he could buy in the dimensional farm's store, but a lot of them were locked behind farm levels. These gold coins were a special currency only used at the dimensional farm.

Freyr felt a little excited about his awakened power. He may be a farmer, but his potential seemed limitless, just like the main characters from his favorite fantasy farming series, Rune Farming.

From what he could remember, the max level of the main character was level 50,000. That was a ridiculous number but many people got close to that level in the game.

If he remembered correctly, the current S-rankers were approaching level 80. No one knew what the max level for hunters was, but many theorized it was level 100.

There was no point thinking about other people's levels or stats, since he was in this dimensional farm, he felt he should farm first and think later.

Freyr opened his inventory that every hunter had and found the gardening hoe was in the first slot. When he clicked on it, the description read: Once a Mist Deck but now it is a multi-purpose tool for Freyr. This tool can be changed into a gardening hoe, a water can, an axe, a pickaxe, and finally a scythe.

All he needed to do was imagine what he wanted the tool to change into and it would automatically change. It was useful and only consumed one slot in his inventory.

With his mind made up, Freyr went to the field. The soil was incredibly fertile but that also meant that wild plants and weeds were covering the field. There were also rocks and boulders scattered around, some hiding in the tall grass. Trees, stumps, and branches also hid in the grass, waiting to be picked up.

For a veteran farming sim player, this was nothing new for him. Every new player had to clear out a section of the land to plant his first crops.

Freyr didn't know how much land he needed to clear, so he cleared as much as he could until he was exhausted.

Everything on the field, even the weeds, could be used, so he put everything into his inventory. The weeds were used for compost, and the rocks and wood could be used to build or upgrade buildings. He also found mixed seeds, which would give him a random vegetable or flower, and found some foraging plants that could be used in cooking or crafting potions.

Nothing went to waste, which was every environmentalist's dream.

His act of clearing land was considered farming and foraging, so his experience points went up in those skills.

After clearing 1/4 of an acre, Freyr finally felt tired. He wanted to plant some crops before he rested, so he went to the dimensional farm's store and looked through his options.

Since his farming skill was only level 4, his options were limited. He could only buy three different kinds of seeds for each season. The seasons matched up with the time of year outside of the dimension farm, so he could only buy spring seeds at the moment.

Unlike the real world where each crop had to be planted in a specific season and then harvested at a different time, the crops in this dimensional farm grew much quicker, so they had designated seasons they could grow in.

There were a lot of crops that could be harvested in more than one season, so he could keep planting them until their peak seasons ended. Unlike the farming sim games, plants could stay in the ground until the end of their life cycles. That meant some plants could be kept for months to years depending on the plant.

There were also a small amount of crops that took a long time to grow, but they sold for a lot or had amazing stat increases.

His options right now were potatoes, carrots, and turnips. These three crops were easy for beginners, so it was no wonder he would start with these three. Each bag of seeds was only 10 gold, so he bought an equal amount of them for 600 gold.

Since Freyr didn't have to worry about bugs, he could plant them anywhere he wanted to. He mapped out three large sections for each vegetable. He made sure there was space between each crop type so it would be easy for him to identify what was what.

Potatoes took 7 seven days to grow, carrots took three days, and turnips took four days.

Freyr dug small holes for each seed, making sure each one had enough room to grow. In the end, he still had half of his seeds left.

When Freyr finished, he looked at his hard work and felt accomplished. He finally understood how the gardening vloggers felt. He had a sense of accomplishment being able to plant vegetables and save money.

Freyr decided to call it a day because it was a long one. It was strange though; he was working so hard on the field but there was no sun or moon. Still, he didn't have to worry about lights because he could still see... Also, he wasn't even hungry. It was strange.

Well, he could always shut the curtains and go to bed. He could sleep any time of the day or night if he was allowed.

Freyr made his way to the farmhouse, cleaned himself up, and then went to bed. He slept as though he had no responsibilities in the real world.

*****

Freyr was still alive, but his body was in a coma. Luckily, the hunters were able to take him to a hospital.

As a new awakened, it was normal for him to have a burst of strength before falling into a coma. Hunters would only go into a coma when they knew they were safe.

The longer he slept, the higher his rank. S-rank hunters didn't sleep longer than a week though. The hospital could only wait for him to wake up before they confirmed what his rank was.

The hunter who caught Freyr listened to the doctor talk about his physical condition. Luckily, he had found Freyr in time.

"Then, please contact me when he wakes up." The hunter named Lucian Park said.

Lucian was a Korean-American S-ranked Hunter and the Asian-American council member in the Minority Liberation Guild, or Liberation Guild for short. He represented the Asian-American Hunters and made sure they had a voice when it came to policies around Hunters.

Even though the Second Civil War in the United States came to an end, there were still some people who wanted things to go back to the way it was in the early 1900s. This obsession to be seen as the superior race carried on even when the dungeons and towers popped up across the globe.

The country was not the same as it was before. The infrastructure was crumbling, the water and soil were polluted, and the quality of life went down drastically. Still, a lot of people who were born here were trying to make it work, even if it was difficult.

Lucian had plans to recruit Freyr into the Liberation Guild. Regardless of his hunter occupation, he felt Freyr would be an S-ranked Hunter.

“Of course, Mr. Park.” The doctor responded before excusing himself to go check on his other patients.

After this dungeon break, there were many injured hunters and normal people. The hospitals nearby were also at max capacity and were trying their best to rescue as many people as they could.

Lucian left the hospital and made his way back to the Liberation Guild’s headquarters.

By the time he heard from the doctors, he knew that he was right about Freyr.

Grandpa Marky: Hey everyone! It took some time for me to get this chapter out because I ended up making an excel sheet for the vegetables he can grow. It's a lot but it was worth it. xD

There will be more action soon. No worries! But for now, let's enjoy him farming before shit hits the fan haha.

Thank you for reading and have a lovely day/night my beautiful grandchildren! <3

After gaining the powers of his favorite fantasy farming sim, guilds wanted him to join them to conquer the dungeons and towers that plagued their world. Freyr didn’t want to go into dungeons or towers, though.

All he wanted to do was farm and take care of his tamed monsters!
