"We're going to welcome the new pack warrior today Lake, make sure you look pretty!" Kairos teased and Lake rolled his eyes

"I am not interested in him" Lake replied tiredly and Kairos patted his back

"Sure, you aren't! I just received a message, he has arrived with some pack warriors of his to make him more at ease. We probably don't understand the feeling of changing packs but it's going to be hard for Nicolai, so, try to make him comfortable, okay?" Kairos asked and Lake sighed, rubbing his face

"I hate that you're a good alpha, why can't you just be a plain asshole?" Lake complained and Kairos laughed

"You're probably the only one to know my real personality, so, that shows how much I trust you. You're like a brother to me" Kairos exclaimed

"Remove the r after the b and our feelings are the same! You're a bother to me" Lake replied and Kairos pouted like a disgusting creep making Lake cringe

"That was disgusting, don't make that face with Bailey, he'll leave you instantly" Lake scowled and Kairos was about to answer when they heard a knock at the door

"Come in" Kairos said, clearing his throat and a nervous Nicolai entered the room

"Um, sorry to interrupt" He said, closing the door before dropping his bags.

He then placed his hand behind his back, standing straight with his legs spread apart

"I'm glad to officially be part of this pack, alpha Kairos" Nicolai replied politely and Kairos nodded, a blank expression on his face

"Likewise, Lead Warrior. I was about to receive you at the entrance but I couldn't. I apologise for not showing up" Kairos said softly and Nicolai smiled in embarrassment, rubbing his neck

"It's fine alpha, I didn't get lost or anything and the pack welcomed me properly" Nicolai replied

Lake thought before shaking his head

Nope, not cute at all!!!

He said to himself. As he placed his hands on the table, it moved slightly and he winced when the glass of water fell, shattering on the ground

"I told you to keep it away after you drank it!" Lake suddenly scolded and Kairos turned around, staring at him in confusion

"Why did you break it?" Kairos asked and Lake narrowed his eyes

"The fuck? You think I'm fond of breaking things? Your dick being here proves otherwise. You don't see me break people's bones, do you?" Lake lashed out, crossing his arms in annoyance and Kairos stared at him in disbelief

"Tsk, are you for real? You pushed me down the stairs last week!" Kairos exclaimed, squeezing his hips on impulse and Lake rolled his eyes.

"Oh come on, you're an alpha, you'll live" Lake muttered and Kairos gasped dramatically

"So it was on purpose!? How could you attempt to murder me?" Kairos asked in shock and Lake sighed before removed his phone

"What are you doing?" Kairos asked

"Calling Bailey to complain about you" He mumbled, pressing on the call button and Kairos immediately snatched the phone from a smirking Lake, flinching when Bailey answered

"Hello?" Bailey said and Kairos bit his lips

"Hi Bailey! Sorry baby, Lake called you by mistake" Kairos explained

"That's a lie! I want to complain-" Kairos quickly covered Lake's mouth, laughing nervously

"I have to get going baby, talk to you later!" Kairos exclaimed

"What? Kairos, what's Lake talking ab-"

Kairos hung the call, sighing tiredly before removing his hand from Lake's mouth

Lake faked gagging noises and wiped his mouth with his shirt

"Eww, who knows where that hand went" Lake cringed in disgust

"Alright alright, I'm sorry, I'll keep my glass in the sink next time and I won't yell at you" Kairos mumbled and Lake smiled, patting the alpha's cheeks

"Good boy!" He replied and Kairos grumbled under his breath before FINALLY remembering that he had a guest who just saw his beta bully him

Kairos cleared his throat and turned around to see an amused Nicolai who had his head bowed.

He was biting his lips and his body was shaking slightly

Kairos suddenly got an idea and he slowly looked at Lake. When he smirked, the beta froze at the dark look Kairos had.

Oh shit....

"Say, Nicolai, why don't my beta show you around and take you to your room? After all, it's the one next to him!" Kairos exclaimed innocently and Lake's eyes widened

Why didn't I know about this!??

Lake thought in anger

That stupid Kairos!!

"After you" Lake mumbled, already planning ways of murdering Kairos

"I was a bit worried that Alpha Kairos bullied you but it looks like you bully him" Nicolai teased and Lake sighed

"What are you talking about? Can't you see that he indeed bullies me?" Lake complained

"You're both perfect for each other" He said and Lake cringed in disgust

"You on crack or something? Last time, you were talking about forbidden love or something like that" Lake said in disgust

"I was just kidding!" Nicolai said and Lake chuckled when the clumsy man tripped on a rock but sadly, he steadied himself at the last minute

That's when Lake noticed that Nicolai still had the tag on his t-shirt and the beta couldn't help but shake his head

"Nicolai, man, it hurts to see you! Your tag is sticking out" Lake said and the man sighed

"That's why it stung!" He replied in realisation

"You clumsy man"

"Do you like clumsy men by chance?.......No?" Nicolai asked as Lake stared at him, unamused

"Seriously though, do you like clumsy man?" Nicolai asked again and Lake shook his head

"I don't like men at all" He replied instead and Nicolai sighed

"I'm sorry! I thought you were at least bisexual! Sorry for making you uncomfortable" Nicolai said softly and Lake felt bad at how guilty the man looked

"I'm joking, I'm gay" Lake replied instead, cursing himself for wanting to comfort the man who looked like a kicked puppy

Just like Kairos, Lake may or may not have a weakness for cute things except that his definition of cute was rather.... A big man like Nicolai being clumsy

"Oh... Does that mean I have a chance-"

"No" Lake replied bluntly and Nicolai sighed

"I'll keep trying hard!! I want to make me yours" He exclaimed and Lake stared at him in amusement

"You don't want to be the 'make you mine' guy?" Lake asked and Nicolai shook his head

"Nope! The 'I wanna make you mine' is so overrated" Nicolai complaned and Lake chuckled.

Dork!!

"Silly man" 

"Oho! I have a nickname already! We're progressing!!" Nicolai cheered and Lake couldn't help but smile when Nicolai jumped, his fist in the air

"Yeah, you're a silly man" He mumbled to himself

"Lake, look! Kitties!" Nicolai exclaimed when he saw four kittens play with wolf pups

"We weren't allowed to keep kittens in the pack" Nicolai said sadly

"Want to play with the kittens?" Lake asked and Nicolai immediately shook his head

"No! The scratch marks that my wolf refuses to heal reminds me every single time of why I shouldn't get close to animals, no matter how cute they were" Nicolai explained

Lake just smiled again as they continued their way to town.

....

The next day, Lake woke up at 4.30 as usual and at 5.00, he went to knock at Nicolai's door.

After a minute of wait, the door finally opened and Lake stiffened when he saw a shirtless and sleepy Nicolai look at him in confusion.

The man's chest was covered in random scars but Lake had to dmit, he was really sexy. He was only in his boxer...His very obvious morning wood catching Lake's attention

Damn, things like that existed?

Lake thought, swallowing the knot around his throat at the mini or rather, major Nicolai

"Uh yeah? What's wrong-OHH, Lake!" Nicolai exclaimed in realisation, shutting the door quickly and Lake frowned

What the...

He heard shuffling sounds and even heard a loud thud before hearing groans

Did that man just fall?

His morning voice though... Man that voice!

The door opened once again to reveal Nicolai, now clad in a shirt and shorts

"S-sorry! I-I didn't know you were opening t-the door" Nicolai stuttered in embarassement and Lake didn't miss his red ears

"Are you embarrassed? We're all men, no need to turn so red" Lake teased and Nicolai rubbed his neck

"Still...it's embarrassing! Being seen by you of all people" He complained

"You shy virgin!" Lake exclaimed and Nicolai sulked

How is this man cute?

"M'not a virgin! It's just embarrassing" He mumbled and Lake chuckled

"Alright, big boy! We get breakfast at 5.15, that's why I woke you up. If you miss the time, no food for you until noon" Lake explained and Nicolai nodded

"Alright, thanks for informing me. I'm going to the bathroom and I'll join you in 5 minutes" Nicolai said and Lake nodded

"You know the way right?" Lake asked and Nicolai nodded

"Yeah" He replied

It was currently 5.20 and there was no sign of Nicolai

What in the world is that man doing?

"No food for him, right?" Lake asked, a  bit worried that Kairos would get pissed at his late arrival. Although Kairos was a goofy man, as the alpha of the pack, he was strict and unforgiving to offences.

"No... That man is just unlucky" Kairos replied in understanding and at that moment, Nicolai arrived with some bloody holes on his face that started healing slowly

"Jason accidentally let his bird out and it attacked Nicolai" Kairos explained and Nicolai blushed as the table filled with pack warriors started laughing

"Sorry about that....I really hope that you won't see me as just a clumsy, good for nothing warrior" Nicolai said in embarrassment and Lake wouldn't admit it, but he was kind of relieved when they started saying that it wasn't a problem

"I reserved a seat right next to Lake. This is for when my mate will come and the place next to Lake is yours" Kairos said and Nicolai went to sit next to Lake who glared at Kairos

The latter just smirked in amusement

I'm going to play cupid! A silly man like Nicolai will be good for Lake

Kairos thought in amusement

"Just wait when your mate comes, he already likes me" Lake huffed and Kairos rolled his eyes

"Anyway, Nicolai, please get up and introduce yourself as well as your wolf" Kairos ordered and Nicolai nodded, standing up slowly

"Hi... I'm Nicolai Dreams and sadly, I like in a nightmare. I get attacked by animals every single day but bunnies love me! Oh and I'm also clumsy. You could say that I'm an idiot" He exclaimed and some warriors snickered at his description. Lake could hear some people whisper about what a loser Nicolai was and that kinda got on his nerve

"But... I make up for that" A deep voice said and everyone apart from Kairos stiffened.

Nicolai's eyes changed to a slightly glowing blue and he was no longer smiling

One could feel a cold and dominant aura envelopping him, almost matching that of a real alpha

"My name is Niles and I'm the wolf of Nicolai. Anyone who think that we are not fit for the position we were offered to can challenge us, we'll gladly accept it. Nicolai may be an idiot and you might think that he's only capable because of me but you're wrong. Try to fight him and I'm confident that he'll win without me" Niles said darkly and Lake felt shivers ran down his spine

Some tensed while some were impressed by the wolf

Niles walked towards the alpha and kneeled before bowing his head

"Alpha, it's an honour to work under you" Niles said politely and Kairos smiled

"Get up, Warrior Niles, it's an honour to work with you too" Kairos said and Niles nodded.

He got up but this time, he kneeled in front of Lake whose eyes widened in shock

Niles took Lake's hand and smirked, pressing a kiss at the back of his hand

"Hmm, what a pretty little human we have here! it's an honour that someone as gorgeous and sweet as you talked to us. Beta Lake, I sincerely hope that you'll give my silly human a chance, he's head heels over you" Niles teased and Lake gulped, biting his lips at the way Niles was watching him

No men had looked at him in such a way that he didn't felt creeped out

Instead, Niles was looking at him like if he was the prettiest thing the wolf had ever seen in his entire life

'Don't bite your lips, little sweetheart, it makes me feel things that you're not ready to take care of yet' Niles said through their mind link before getting up

Kairos watched as Lake's cheeks turned pink as Niles got up

Jesus christ, where has this man been his whole life? If this was someone else, Lake would have cringed or wiped his hand in disgust, on the spot

"Any questions you have to ask me, warriors?" Niles asked, back to his cold and dominant tone

"I have a question! Would you ever try to overtake our alpha?" Someone asked and Niles narrowed his eyes in anger, feeling a sudden irritation at the thought of overtaking a wolf he has already considered as his alpha

"How dare you ask a question like this? My purpose is to serve the alpha, not overtake him. Only fools will dare think of such a thing" Niles answered in a rather pissed tone

The thought of someone ever asking him if he'll betray his alpha was unacceptable! Although he was not actually from this pack, he had considered Kairos and Killian as his alpha. To him, loyalty was everything. As a strong warrior, his loyalty towards his alpha was an inborn feeling. He was uncomfortable with the though of him being a threat to his alpha

"Apologise for such a rude question, right now" Kairos ordered coldly and the wolves flinched at the pissed tone he was using

Kairos knew that Niles was definitely hurt by such questions. 

"I apologise" The person who asked the question said, kneeling in front of Niles who nodded, taking back his place.

"Let's move on and have a proper meal"
