Spider-Man's life is in chaos. After a hard-fought battle against the Green Goblin — who revealed himself to be Norman Osborn, the father of Peter's best friend — the hero is being falsely accused of murdering the villain, who, in reality, faked his own death. While Spider-Man's relationship with his allies crumbles, Peter's relationship with his friends has become more difficult due to Gwen and Harry dating. When the hero returns from a vacation trip to Florida, where he had a troubled encounter with the Connors family, he soon realizes that new threats are in the air. The Green Goblin's legacy has taken deep root, and soon New York will need Spider-Man more than ever...

Peter Parker was just an ordinary teenager with a promising future, until one day, on a science trip to the Empire State University laboratories, he was bitten by a genetically modified spider and gained spectacular powers. At first, Peter decided to use his powers for his own benefit. In an act of arrogance, he let a thief escape on purpose. Later that day, this same thief killed his Uncle Ben. It was then that Peter Parker learned a lesson that would haunt him for the rest of his life: that with great power comes great responsibility. From then on, Peter decided that he would use these powers in accordance with his uncle's wisdom, to ensure that no one else would suffer a cruel fate, if he could stop it. He wasn't just Peter Parker anymore. From that day on, he would become the spectacular Spider-Man.
