My Dominant Omega

2. Cold Feet

2. Cold Feet

Aug 18, 2024

"Flowers for you, sir."

"If this is your freshest bloom, it's lacking in many ways."

'What an ungrateful son of a...!'

My name is Uta, and I have been this man's slave for the past two years in the name of running my father's business. Every waking day, I'd ask myself if this was really what my life had succumbed to, reduced to a doormat to this selfish, arrogant imbecile.

I watched him raise my finest choice of the day to glimpse their scent and frowned. "You've failed your father yet again. Him being the supervisor, have him bring me the best selection starting tomorrow morning."

"Ah...sir, I am the supervisor. I run the flower shop myself."

"You?" He seemed irritable but barely took time to look at my face. It was always the same statement every single day with him. "So what am I to do with such incompetent service delivery?"

'The nerve!' My hands shook from rage as I tried to control my temper. I hated this man to the core, yet I had to stand and listen to him despite that. I couldn't understand him at all. The mere fact that he'd ask me to come here every day in person and belittle me... It was even more challenging for me to comprehend he was not feeling a tinge of remorse from how his actions and words made me feel.

My father had told me how sweet and kind this man was while he worked for his family many years ago, but for the past two years, I've wondered if this was the very same person he was talking fondly about. Forcing a smile on, I thought of my father's health and found a way to endure this torture by lowering my pride, but still, this was humiliating.

"We have the same conversation every day, sir. If you do not like my flowers, I'd happily recommend another flower shop."

"Did I ask you to do that?"

"I beg your pardon?"

"Whatever shop you have in mind must be as bogus as the many litters you've brought me."

'What the father fu**ing fu**?!'

"Leave." He gestured his hand to the door. Bowing briefly, I excused myself and hurriedly left his study before I busted the seams and reached for his throat.

I'd had it with this guy! I often prided myself on being forbearing, yet somehow, whenever I got here and saw this ungrateful excuse of a client; I would gradually begin drowning in rage.

Enough is enough! I don't have to put up with this bullshit any longer. It will upset Dad to let this client go, but I am done. "And why is this house so big? How many steps do I have to take to reach the door?" I felt frustrated as I walked through the hallway. "What a pain in the..."

"Sir, you mustn't. My master may hear you." One of his assistants warned me, a look of worry on his face, or was it fear?

"Don't worry. I left him in the study."

He smiled, peeping behind me to confirm my statement. "He has been in a rather terrible mood, considering he is to find a bride at the earliest."

"Who would want to be tied down to someone like him for the rest of their lives?"

"You'd be surprised." The assistant giggled and drew me into his enthusiasm. "There is pressure from his family to find a bride or else they will recommend him a suitor. Not that one wasn't in waiting already."

Thankfully, this client's staff were not as unaccommodating as him, and as we laughed and chattered on, we passed by a room filled with about a dozen males and females dressed in clean-cut suits. They all stood up when they noticed the two of us walking in.

"Yaw! We've been waiting for you! There seems to be a problem, and I do not know what it is!" One lady approached us, utterly panicked, taking the assistant with her. I later discovered she was another assistant to that arrogant fool. Come to think of it, Yaw had been right. I often visited this place, but today's air was rather tense, and with more staff employed.

"The interviews have been cancelled." I heard her mention to Yaw in a not so much of a whisper.

"Again? The master's family will ran amok here the moment they find out he cancelled again."

"Norma is going to scold us for ruining the event again."

"Why? Wasn't everything supervised by her for today?" Yaw said, then looked back at me, his expression worrisome. I wanted to tell him I hadn't done anything wrong to their master, but he turned around to face his fellow colleague.

"He called a few minutes ago and informed us to send everyone home. He even clarified the reason for it and you know he never utters a word if not through Norma. It appears he has found what he was looking for."

"What? When?" I couldn't tell why the news took aback Yaw, but all that was none of my business, nor did I want to get involved in it.

"Yes, Yaw! We need to start making everything ready!"

"What's happening? Is everything alright?" My curious self could not help inquiring after how tongue-tied Yaw appeared, which was unusual, seeming that he was quite a chatterbox.

"We might need your floral services in the future, Uta," Yaw said. "We are having a wedding."

In this world, you were born Lucky, and deemed superior as a Beta, whilst the Abnormal folk are branded Unlucky—whether Dominant, Recessive, or Dormant.

In this world, brimming with Betas, what are the chances that I, an Alpha by birth, an Abnormal and a Recessive at that, would begin to develop a womb?

In this world, where Betas act as predators, hunting and oppressing Abnormals like me, singling us out through pheromones, to whom could I turn for aid? Even if I were to take inhibitors to conceal my nature, the system was crafted not for Abnormals but for Normals, ensuring only Betas could prosper.

As prey to both Normals and Abnormals, the sole means for an Alpha to be revealed is through an Omega entering heat, thereby exposing their true nature. And I, being Recessive, was helpless before lust, for Recessives were considered the weakest of all sexes when it came to pheromones.

If Omegas ceased to enter heat, Betas would cease hunting Abnormals, sparing none of us from their intent to eradicate our kind.

I have survived years without being discovered, and so long as I continue my inhibitors, no Dominant Omega shall cause a womb to grow within me, nor shall any Beta uncover my true nature.

There is but one soul in this world whom I trust. Yet, alas, she too falls within the Abnormal Recessive category, much like myself. She is my confidant and comprehends my plight. Sadly, she is a puppeteer, and I, the puppet, walking willingly to my doom, to be slain by one of her own.

I loathe this world.
