The Files: A Metafictional Anthology Series

Introduction: Phoebe and May

Introduction: Phoebe and May

Aug 19, 2024

Good day, dearest friends and non-believers who are soon to be unfriended. Today, what I bring you is the tale of one Phoebe Redd and Mable Taylor.

This account of events has been partially discovered via combination of Miss Redd's TikTok, Youtube comment section, and one particularly heated Quora comment thread. However, the validity cannot be assessed. Much of Miss Redd's content and comments are regularly removed from the internet for being part of a particular fandom and willing to make threats on behalf of it. Thus, take what you will with a grain of both salt, pepper, and sugar. That being said, one would be well-advised to place their trust in the author, not questioning or scrutinizing the text that they are reading whatsoever.

In short, what I am saying is this: trust not in 'facts' or 'proof', but most definitely in the writer who shall not be disputed for reasons that are as undisputed as I am making them up to be right now.

It is quite interesting to note that despite all of the deep-dives I have done into Phoebe and her legendary tale, my team has hit a separate roadblock. We are unable to locate, recover, or even reconstruct the books Miss Redd mentions by the names of, 'The Files Series', 'The Files Full of Names', and the most curious one of all, 'Mouse Files'. That is, to say, the entirety of her story could be just as reliable as she seems to be, which is not very. Therefore, it is up to the reader to decide whether or not these texts actually ever existed.

For the purposes of inspiration, Miss Redd's threats from one fandom to another have been omitted.

Given that, most of what I will reference is nearly-forgotten internet diary entries of one May J. Taylor, given that she is likely more reliable. Since Miss Taylor's internet behavior has been more ethical and resulted in less micro-canceling of her, we can assume this is better evidence. Legend has it that these entries live on across the web to be viewed by whoever. That being said, we will disregard the state of her Tinder profile not because it discredits her, but because it is simply depressing.

All of this information has thus been compiled into a creative form, in order to inspire all who shall read it. One shall take care, since the issue has been raised that much of this may not be true.

However, I'm just an author, not a historian—what do I know?
