Una historia muy citada en el sillok, los Anales de la Dinastía Joseon, sobre la caída del rey Taejong de su caballo ejemplifica el compromiso de los historiadores de la corte de Joseon de documentar incluso los sucesos desagradables o embarazosos para el rey y hasta qué punto éste no podía influir en las historias que se incluían en el sillok.
La fuente dice:
«El propio rey montó a caballo y disparó flechas a un ciervo. Sin embargo, el caballo tropezó, haciéndole caer, pero no resultó herido. Mirando a su alrededor, dijo: «Que los historiadores no se enteren de esto».
