"It was my first step in the industry. My father, the CEO, trusted me with a project in the middle of my break from school. I had just returned to the city when he decided to put me right in the middle of the action."
Those snakes just waited to bite a young woman at her first task:
"HAHAHA hey, there is no place for little girls," said the man before me. I was on the verge of my rage; I would like to smack him right in the face, I was so close, but then a secretary stepped in and took all the blame.
"I'm sorry, I gave you the wrong file," said the woman, who had dark circles under her eyes and puffy eyes. You're good for nothing," said the man, throwing the files away.
I was speechless. How could you treat someone like that? But then I remembered: My father, the CEO, was just like him. And maybe me, too? I was his daughter; I had his DNA in my veins, so I probably was just like them.
I somehow disliked being like them while looking at that woman. But then there was a bigger problem, so I had to concentrate.
"Mr. Jay," I said, "Can we end this proposal?" I continued, looking right into his eyes. That man was full of bluff.
"Here, the right file, sir," said the secretary, giving me a file. "Maria, get me a coffè." Not even a thanks, nothing. ASSHOLE.
"Would you like one too, Miss?" asked that woman, half ignoring that her boss had started to yell like a troll with his but in fire.
"Yes, please," she smiled at me and got out.
The office got quiet, and I was fully immersed in the document the secretary gave me. A note in the middle said, "You can do it! Don't give up." That woman saw I was nervous and just cheered for me.
"HAH.. this contract it's bullshit," said the man before me. That man was an idiot; he wanted more than he was offered.
"Mr. Jay," I sighed out of frustration. "ENOUGH" I was so pised off. I slammed down the coffee table in his damn office, the crap fil,e and just got up. "Am I a joke to you?" I asked.
"You damn little girl, what do you think you're doing?" said Mr. Jay, furious "This contract is nullified," I continued.
"I WILL GET YOU FIRED YOU BITCH" Started to shout at him without a clue. The contract was unsigned, which meant it was just a test from my father. He didn't wanted this company as a business partner. I was free to annul everything and get back.
The secretary was just entering the room. She put the coffee on the table and got up without a word.
"Can't you just work without wasting time?" that secretary smiled at me. "I quit," she said, smiling at her boss.
She was fierce and beautiful. Her boss started to shout again, but she was not listening to him anymore. She turned back, opened the door, and made me sign to leave.
We were thrown outside the building as garbage, and she was laughing. Her smile illuminated the whole street. The only thing I could see in my eyes was her!
"Well, Miss, how are you doing?" asked me, smiling brightly.
"I.." I started to cry. The stress was too much for me.
"Oh my, Miss, don't cry," she comforted me and even bought me cake. I was not abble to cry like a kid for a really long time.
That person was Maria. She is the woman who is currently in front of me.
"Are you not disgusted?" I asked as I kept my eyes on the floor. For the first time in years, I felt the same nervousness.
"I'm just surprised, I would say." She was laughing just like the last time I saw her. She was still so beautiful, and my heart was pounding like crazy.
"I was amazed by the fact that you were the total opposite of what people talk about you." She was severe; I could see it in her eyes. "Man or woman, you're Director K," she said no more. Just like last time, she was there cheering me up.
"I would like it to stay a secret for now." Kilee was right; it was not the time for a coming out. More significant problems were behind the wall, which everyone saw as a wall of glory. The CEO accepted her because she earned the title of "Director K" while completing her studies.
Her brother had a simpler life, born a male, but his father saw females as torn. He saw them as a perfect doll to exhibit in front of the audience, exactly like how he chose our mother, a former model.
A grand doll, one I never wanted to be.
"Thank you, Maria," she stood near me with a big smile. "You're welcome, sir," her answer made me smile too.
After a long time, I could finally breathe freely. I relaxed on the back of the sofa, letting out a sigh of relief.
"Fuck!" that was so unexpected, but I was happy that Maria was the one to find out. Now, I had an excuse to keep her near me. It took several months looking for her without success till one day on the list of new hires was her name. I was so happy I did everything to have her as my personal secretary. I felt like I won the lottery.
"Do I have to leave my job?" that question made me jump back to my senses.
" What?" she asked, looking at me with big gray eyes. "You're MY secretary!," Maria grinned. Hearing my response, she laughed very loudly.
"I'm sorry, I was just trying to move the mood." This woman was quite something. I really like her; she's a great person.
Kilee's point of view in that strange story was that she knew who Maria was, but Maria was clueless about who the person in front of her was.
In Maria's eyes, Kilee was just a person she started to admire as a great businessman.
After discovering that her boyfriend was cheating, Maria was offered a job at B-Corp, the company of her dreams. However, she was surprised to be hired as the secretary for the workaholic director, Kyle. The only hope remains that they will understand each other over time and eventually learn to communicate. Or will there be more?
