Kraft's Notes on Metamorphosis

There’s nothing wrong with elderly people liking to collect some antiques, right? 1

Kraft's grandfather, also known as the first generation aristocrat of this family, was named Mark Wood, or alternatively, Old Wood.

Of course, when Old Wood was as young as Kraft is now, he didn't have this surname. At that time, he was just a strong young man from the countryside, and his main job was to teach people on the battlefield.

Due to his exceptional talent, although Old Wood did not receive much training, he still demonstrated excellent business abilities. When others find it difficult to drive one, he drives four or five without even blinking.

With such outstanding performance, he gradually developed from wearing pants to wearing leather armor, and finally had the privilege of becoming someone who wears full armor and wields a two handed sword to open a ladle. Recalling this glorious era, Old Wood would excitedly pat his knee every time.

Similar to the development in most stories, Old Wood gained the appreciation of a prominent figure after half his military career, obtaining his current title of Baron and a sizable fiefdom in his hometown.

After achieving great success and experiencing a recurrence of an old knee injury, he chose to return to his hometown of Woodtown and adopted the place name as his family's surname. He began planning the construction of his own castle on a small hill behind the town.

It seems that the first half of Old Wood's life exhausted all the luck of this family. During the thirty years when the castle was gradually built, first Old Wood's wife died of a plague, and the priest's prayers could not save her life; Next, Old Wood's son, Little Wood, unfortunately died on the battlefield, and Kraft's mother died in childbirth.

The entire family line is left with only Old Wood himself and his grandson Kraft Wood. The newly built castle is shrouded in invisible clouds, and a cursed and cold atmosphere pervades every corner inside and outside the stone walls.

Perhaps the so-called gods in the church felt that this fate was too harsh on Old Wood, and Kraft did not suffer the same misfortune.

On the contrary, he grew up healthy inside the castle's stone walls until the age of ten, without any exposure to danger, and even the sword he played in physical education class was not sharpened (this was already the maximum safety measure in Old Wood's mind).

Old Wood, who was already covered in white hair, took a deep breath and began to reflect on his pain. He planned to teach his grandson some skills other than the two handed sword windmill, at least not to have nothing to do except to open a ladle in the future.

So scholar Anderson was invited by Old Wood to teach the reading and writing of the local language of Kraft, as well as things that Old Wood thought might be "elegant" such as floral and poetry, since Wenden Port College.

The fact proved that the elderly's choice was right. Kraft went from a child who was full of memories of his grandfather's glorious years to a child who could sit quietly in the study - at least after some traditional and effective persuasion from his grandfather.

After finding a new direction for Kraft's development, Old Wood was finally able to focus on some of his hobbies and enjoy his old age with peace of mind.

Speaking of which, this hobby is quite unique, mainly rising slowly after the end of the war. It has developed from an extremely niche to a small group hobby, mainly popular among young and cultured aristocrats and some scholars.

Formerly known as mysticism, now also known as paranormal phenomena; The church rejects it as heretical, while naive materialist scholars generally believe it to be an undiscovered principle of the natural world's operation.

To put it simply, it can barely account for all sorts of miscellaneous, uncommon, and inexplicable things, including but not limited to things like burning or glowing in the hand.
