Samado POV
(WARNING! THIS CHAPTER CONTAINS THE FOLLOWING:
- Violence
- Cursing)
Ahhhhh… This feeling of finally getting a mission after so many years of waiting! I am so excited! Because I turned 14 last week, I can finally get into a mission with a squad. Unfortunately, I can’t select the members of my squad. I wanted so badly to be with my best friend Shiro! He is as good as me in terms of sword skills and elements, but anyways, we won’t use these abilities for this mission. We’re only investigating a weird noise, probably produced by an earthquake, near the famous Great pit*. A lot of people in the Swordsman Country* visit the Great pit each day because of the beautiful meteor that dropped in it 10 000 years ago. We are very lucky to have the chance to come and visit this marvelous site everyday.
“We’re close to the Great Pit!” said Toshi, one of my squad’s members.
Toshi is a pretty chill guy. I’m sad for not being on Shiro’s squad, but at least he and Toshi are both acting the same way, except for one detail: Toshi has an obsession with being the leader and controlling everything. It’s really pissing me off, but it doesn’t matter, I can survive him for one mission. The real problem is that Toshi is not the only one, the rest of the team is just as irritating as him. At least, I‘m just stuck with these boys for one mission, but I swear, if they put me with them again in the future, I think I might let out my anger on one of them. They’re so annoying! They’re always arguing about everything for no reason! Just as an example, only one minute after I met them, they were already fighting each other to be the leader. Of course, I didn’t care about being the leader since I’m not this type of guy, but… Anyways, I’m gonna focus on this mission, so I can succeed easily without them.
When we finally arrived at the location, I had the weird feeling that we shouldn’t be here. The attraction shouldn’t have been closed. In fact, the attraction never closes its doors, but it did look closed, since the place was empty! This feeling starts to be even deeper when we realize that the Great Pit is surrounded by trees, because it looks like this site is in the middle of nowhere! I thought it would be crowded. It’s not every day that there’s an earthquake in a pit with a meteor that landed thousands of years ago! Maybe I’m just too curious…
“Hum, guys…” I said. “Is it normal that…”
“Yeah, I know what you’re thinking about.” Said Toshi.
“Normally, there’s always an employee watching tourists while they’re shocked and amazed by the “marvelous meteor”. That’s how it has always been, but today, the place is empty…”
“Guys, chill! I’m sure they only left because they were afraid!” Said Bryan, the strongest of the squad by appearance.
“Hum… Hum… I don’t think so…” Said Charles, the healer* of the squad. He had a weakling appearance compared to Bryan.
“Just stop talking and go analyze the meteor. If you don’t, I can do it myself.” I said.
“But I should be the one doing it, I’m the leader!” Said Toshi.
“No, it should be me, I’m the strongest!” Said Bryan, who clearly wanted to fight our chief.
“But, but… I‘m the healer! So I should…“ Was saying Charles before I had enough and went myself.
My god, they are so stupid! Why are these guys even swordsmen? They’re so incapable, they should be peasants. Anyways, I checked the meteor to see if everything was fine, but I found nothing suspicious. I was going to get up and join the others to try and stop the fight I saw was going on when I heard a little noise that caught my attention. It was a very high-pitched sound, almost like a baby crying. “It’s coming from inside the meteor!”, I said to myself. I immediately pulled out my sword and slashed the meteor in two pieces. To my surprise, I realized that it was in fact a baby that was incubated in the meteor. Was this baby there for 10 000 years and nobody noticed? I think we should end the incubation. Still, 10 000 years… I don’t even know how this baby is still alive. I slashed the strings that were holding him inside and took the baby in my hands. My god, he‘s so cute! Except that, he has a big blue black birthmark around his neck… Wait, isn’t it a demo…
Suddenly, a group of people starts rushing toward my allies. I didn’t see what they looked like, but I immediately put the baby on the ground and used the towel in my bag to cover him. I then immediately rushed to help my teammates. I may not like them, but they’re still my comrades. When I was finally able to see what the others looked like, I realized they were actually ninjas*. I thought there weren't any ninjas around the place. Is this an attack? Oh no… It was the worst moment possible! A ninja tried to surprise me by attacking me from behind, but I noticed him.
“SAMADO!” Screamed Toshi. “WATCH…”
As Toshi was about to warn me, I was already in front of my enemy and was able to cut his body in half with my katana before he could even try to hurt me.
“Guys!“ I warned them. “Be in position! The enemies are coming, you have to be careful!”
“But, but…” Was trying to say to the now really scared healer, before I interrupted him.
“Don’t worry! I got your backs!”
Now that they were all comforted and felt a bit better, the real battle could begin… I would need to fight alone against ten guys, if I consider my allies useless since they’re all scared, but I can understand that. After all, it’s their first real mission, they aren’t formed for battle as well as I am. So it’s totally normal that, when an enemy rushes towards them, I should be the one covering them, and I’ll do the same for all my other missions I will have too!
As I ordered, my teammates were now in formation and ready to fight. Just seconds before the enemies struck, I went quickly towards my teammates and joined their formation. I was ready to fight, like my allies and my enemies. One of the ninjas started to attack Bryan, but he pulled out his gigantic sword and countered his attack. Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to reach his opponent, but while trying to block the enemy’s attack, Bryan sent him flying the complete opposite way. At least, I’m now sure that he’s strong by appearance, but also in fights! The next opponent came directly at me, and I simply dodged his attack and rushed right at him. When I thought I had got him, he dodged my attack really fast and hit me straight in the face with his feet. His kick propelled me in the air. Ooch! By the way they’re moving, I can tell that they’re definitely not beginners! Worse, I think that they are… elite ninjas*. If my assumption is true… we are in big, big trouble!
