“I THINK I GOT YOU INTO LITTLE BIT OF TROUBLE” he said loudly “SOME PEOPLE ARE AFTER ME… and if they saw you, it might have gotten you indirectly involved.”
“Huh…?!” was all Raven could mumble, barely managing to keep up with his speed. She still processed all he said, his words cut her worry in half because if he was the one being chased, it meant there’s a chance that no one was on her tail, yet.
In the past, she heard stories of how fairies were captured because they went to help humans; whom turned out to be the king’s men, and lured the them into a trap by using fairy magic and kindness against them. Luckley for her, she was different, learning from young age to suppress her rooted kindness to save her own skin.
that almost made her slam right into him if not for her quick reflexes, as he was still holding her hand without the intention of letting go, so she stopped as well. Raven panted, exhaling and inhaling, trying to settle her breathing.
“I… think they won’t follow us anymore” Bell chuckled, removing any hint of his cold and serious expression “we put quite the distance between us” he boasted as if it was some grand achievement.
Raven took the opportunity and yanked her hand from his, she could see white imprints on her palm, from how strongly he held it.
She curled her fingers into a fist “what gives you the right… to pull me with you?!” and swang straight into his face, with all the strength she could gather.
“Don’t drag a stranger into your problems!” Raven was furious, with him and herself. She was wasting precious time, soon the fairy dust will home on her like ships to a lighthouse.
“SO… from what are YOU running?” he asked, she raised an eyebrow “from you! You are annoying as hell and i have no interest to make your acquaintance!”
He stared at her for a few moments and sighed with a clouded look on his face “I apologize.” he said, trying to make it sound as honest as possible. even though he didn't feel sorry for anything, there was nothing else he could say, he absolutely could NOT reveal what he knows.
“AHEM!” Bell cleared his throat loudly on purpose to get her attention, “WHAT… now?” she rolled her eyes, his presence started to exhaust her. “Before you go… can you tell me the way to the train station? I have to get to the north” he smiled, how could he not, when Raven’s murderous look on her face, almost made him laugh. Bell could see right through all of her defenses, he thought she was trying too hard, but knew her actions were justified.
Bell smiled as of he won the lottery “AGREED!” he rejoiced, knowing very well that its a promise he will definitely break.
For a while they walked in silence, the only loudness came from Raven’s mind, she beat herself up over this whole fiasco; she couldn't use her magic, she clearly wasn't strong enough to face him AND she was too nice to him ‘...like what happened to my whole save my own skin resolve…?’.
Unlike her, Bell enjoyed the situation or more accurately he was amused by Raven’s behavior, it was totally different from what he expected a fairy to act like. The only thing he did not find entertaining is her lack of magic and strength; her attempt in punching him revealed everything, even the fact that she thinks she’s strong than humans.
He scratched his head in frustration as he kept walking behind her thinking how curious he was about her but couldn't ask directly, she was too resistant to his CHARMS.
She pointed her hand to the side, bell glanced over, seeing the tracks peeking through the clump of sunflowers stems “thanks” he said.
Bell of course was aware of this location, he saw the vast field when he came to town by train, it was a lovely sight for him.
They finally got out from the field near to the far side of the train platform.
it was already dawn. The fairy dust was floating everywhere in the air, Raven rubbed her eyes to adjust them transitioning from dark to light and gazed upon the platform.
Without notice and much to say, almost instinctively, she quickly grabbed bell’s shoulder and pushed him down with her into a kneeling position.
Bell looked at her confused and could feel the trembling in the hand holding him “whats wrong?”, Raven took her hand back “I felt like i saw danger”, this statement made Bell a bit more confused than before “you FELT like SEEING danger?” he didn't wait for an answer and stood up to look for himself “OH!” he got back down right away.
They looked like the hunters and the king’s men but much more dangerous, these men although human were monsters; created by the experiments of the king’s crazy scientists. They were checking every adult passenger going in to the train station, while ignoring the children who played around trying to catch the golden flakes.
Bell looked at Raven that was still out of it “lets hide and wait for a while” he suggested confidently using a firm voice to get her attention. It worked, both crouching, backed into the sunflowers field.
“They are different from the other men” she finally spoke “what the hell did you do to be chased by such dangerous people?!”
Bell was a bit surprised, she looked angry but spoke too softly “hmm… I… stole? Something” he lied, theres no way he could tell her the truth that they came for her. “I see” she said nonchalantly and stood up. Bell could sense that something was wrong with her, she was different, her words, tone and expressions were all mismatched with each other “something wrong!” he said.
It all happened so fast that none of them had the time to react.
Raven felt a sharp pain under the left side of the shoulder blade as she fell knees first, hands second to the ground, shrieking in pain.
Bell jumped onto his feet, quickly standing between her and the direction the sounds came from; the inside of the field.
After a few moments the flowers in front of him bend outwards unnaturally, revealing a ground of people, the king’s men they heard from before, accompanying by few of the monsters he saw on the platform, fully geared with weapons.
When they saw Bell they stoped, assessing the situation, one of the monsters, who probably was the high ranking officer; since he wore a silver badge on his chest, made a step forward.
“Ahh… no can do gentleman” Bell replied and smiled. his smile wasn't that from before, the one that radiated with beauty and playfulness that made all the girls fall for him. It was a malicious smile that made all of the officers take a half step back. He had a cold glint in his golden eyes, and expression that would make the most courageous wet their pants.
“GET THIS LUNATIC!” the officer shouted.
“HEED TO MY RULE AND STOP MOVING” Bell commanded, his voice was loud and piercing, he could see how the men froze in one place, struggling and trying to move their hands with no success, likely cover their ears.
“Who are you?!” the officer demanded to know as Bell came closer to him “me?” he asked “just an innocent passerby” and shrugged.
“YOU JERK! What did you do?! I can’t move a muscle!” Raven’s voice was full of pain and anger. Apparently whatever Bell did, affected her too, she was stuck in a kneeling position. ‘At least she’s back to her normal self’ Bell thought upon hearing her.
“Well now” he continued “lets wrap it up swiftly!”
Bell took a deep breath “Heed to my rule, EXCEPT the girl behind me, close your eyes, kneel down, wait ten hours. THAN go back to your work place AND FORGET YOU EVER SAW ME AND HER!”
All the men moved in sync, following Bell’s orders to a T.
“I'm so sorry… please bear with me for a moment.” his voice was gentle and quiet for Raven’s ears only. Bell cupped her face in both hands and pressed his forehead to hers, he could notice how pale she was and how hot her skin was to the touch.
her eyes widened upon his warm golden gaze “move!” he whispered to her, releasing her and backing away a little. Raven immediately grabbed the sleeve of his shirt as she fell on her side to the ground, the pain was too excruciating for her to endure “p…lea..se…” she cried “i don't want to… feel it…again” her voice quavered.
“We need to go somewhere safe” he said glancing at her, Raven’s eyes were half closed filled with tears, she rested her head on his shoulder “the forest…” her voice became faint “...
“Just hang on a while longer…” his voice trembled “...Raven”.
