Aisha: The Secret Of The Diary

Chapter 2.2

Chapter 2.2

Sep 13, 2024

"Hey, maybe this could be to our advantage for your dad to know that we're in love so you can marry me." Jack smirked.

"WHO WANTS TO MARRY YOU?!" I blushed.

"Okay! My bad! We're getting off topic.
Now, tell me, what happened?" He asked.

I told him.

I told him how I heard a girl call for me.

How she talked about my parents and led me to the chest.

"So, when was the first time anything happened?" Jack asked.

"Probably like two weeks ago.
Why don't you spend the night and we can investigate?" I asked.

"Okay, should we go find that chest first?" Jack asked.

We made our way downstairs and outside.

"It stood under the tree and this is where I found it." I stated.

We dug up the chest.

"Aish, there's a note." Jack mumbled.

"What?! There wasn't a note last time!
Read it!" I yelled.

"To find the key it's hidden inside.
Maybe the place where we used to dine.
Behind the place where it's most divine..."

"Dine....
Divine..." Jack pondered

"It's in the decorative dining room! Divine dining! The decorative plates!"
I yelled.

I jumped up and made my way to the door, "Wait, what do you want me to do with the box?" Jack asked.

"Just leave it for now! Cover it up and we will dig it up again later!" I yelled.

"Okay!" Jack replied and quickly followed me back inside.

"Where is the decorative dining room?" Jack asked.

"Inside, left hall, turn right.
Just follow me.
Let's walk, so we don't seem suspicious."
I whispered.

We made it to the dining room.
The plates were on stands on a large, dark oak case.

"Dine....
Divine...
Aisha, there's like 30 of the plates!"
Jack pondered.

"Find the most divine! The one with the golden rose." I whispered.

It was the one at the top.

The one with the family emblem!

Jack grabbed a chair and stood on it.

He still couldn't reach.

"Aisha, you have got to trust me, okay?
Get on my shoulders and grab the plate." Jack smiled.

"Okay. If you drop me, I'm killing you!" I warned.

I carefully climbed onto Jack and grabbed the plate.

Behind the plate there was a note and a key.

"Aisha, hurry, we have to get to the other dining room! I will grab the note and key." Jack yelled.

"Wait! I have to get dressed. Let's go to my room!" I yelled.

(Estridsen: Jack's last name.
It means 'divine beauty.')

I have no memories of my mother.
When I was little, I'd have dreams about her.
But, unfortunately, I cannot remember much of those dreams anymore.

My father doesn't talk about her, it's as if, even after all this time, the grief is still consuming him.
Lost in his own grief, he locked away every trace of her and refused to speak of her with anyone.

Because I had so few memories of her,
I used to ask him about the woman we had both lost, but the old pain would simply overwhelm him anew and the last thing I wanted to do is hurt him any further, so I stopped asking.

That was until about a year ago, when I was searching the attic for treasure when I found a portrait of the most beautiful woman I had ever seen.

My Mother.

Her snow white skin,
her blonde, almost a white platinum hair,
her smile that seemed to light up the world around her, and my own blue eyes that reflected back at me.

Now her face haunts my dreams.

I knew that if my father saw it, he would hide it away, just like how he hides everything else.

It feels like everything in my life is a secret.
My mother, even my own relatives, this house that I was born in.

But what scares me isn't the voices I hear at night when I'm trying to sleep. The faint whispers, calling out to me, calling for me.
It's not even the feeling of eyes on me at all times, it's not even that my father doesn't believe me.

What scares me is the notes I've started finding.
