She glanced at the door as Livy left. Though she felt guilty about hitting her, it was a must-do action. If she hadn’t done it, Livy might not have listened to her at all. She looks at the book that infatuated Livy so much.
“She said the pages were blank. But that can’t be.”
Mora picked up the old book and flipped through the pages.
“Huh, they are blank.”
She looked at the edge of the page and saw a small bit of blood. As she looked at it, the book started to get extremely heavy. As Mora struggled to keep a hold of the book, she saw that the small speck of blood started to spread rapidly, covering all the pages in a deep and horrifying shade of red.
“What in the..!?”
As the book got heavier, Mora ended up dropping the book to the floor; the book fell to the floor wide open. Her arms were sore from holding the book. As she looked back down at the open book, she saw the pages start to absorb the red color, turning the pages that were originally an old orangeish yellow to a deep blood red. She gets even more horrified when the pages start to flip to the next page on their own. She tries to pick up the book once more, but it has the weight of a King Rable Boar.
“What in the world did Livy find!?”
The book stops at a page near the end of the book. This page, however, is still perfectly intact, as it wasn’t contaminated by the bloody redness. Mora stares at the book, observing its next move as if it were a live beast. She’s scared to touch or mess with the book at this point; it must be cursed since its doing all of this unnatural stuff a mere object should not be able to do.
The book starts to hum and sing as the page lightly glows. Then, the bloody color drains from the other hundred pages and floods the one page that was still normal. The color starts to form symbols of the page.
“Is this... ancient Demonic language? I know I studied this kind of writing back when I was a scholar, but I never once learned how to read it. I can only read present-day Demonic Scripts.”
Mora looks at the page once more, now fascinated with the new find. The red color slowly fades from the characters and turns into a regular black ink. Mora knows she should be afraid of the book, but now that she found an artifact with real ancient Demonic scripture on it, the younger her, who loved history and researching the unknown, was coming back out. Her fear turned into fascination and a small need to learn and understand.
“Seriously though, where did this come from? I know Livy said she found it at the library, but what was a book like this doing there? Right now, that doesn’t matter; I need to keep this away from Livy at all costs. Who knows what this book could do? And I’m definitely not letting my child be victim to any of its curses or spells.”
Mora tries to pick up the book once again, but it’s still extremely heavy.
“How do I move this?”
She stares at the book, trying to find a way to move it, when she hears Isaac running and laughing, as well as Livy yelling for him to slow down. Mora thinks about it for a second. She finally makes the design to apologize to Livy, if Livy will even hear her out.
