(Ch. 7) Sword Practice, Part 4

(Ch. 7) Sword Practice, Part 4

Sep 18, 2024

The next day Erga returned to practice using a wooden sword. Now his training was fighting with Kiluri, Densa and Namoru who also used wooden swords.

Mena did not come to the training ground because she still wanted to learn to hunt animals.

Kiluri, Densa and Namoru were not Seyga. The three of them also wanted to become Seyga. So, Terza hoped that Erga could win against three people.

Erga fights and continues to be attacked by his three friends. Lonea observes the training.

Terza also walks while explaining some of the abilities that Erga must have.

Pay attention to the battle scenario.

Situational awareness is the key to winning a fight. The mind should not only focus on the awareness that Erga must be ready to fight, but also pay attention to the location around him quickly and think of a way to change the battle location to his advantage. If he is not ready, Erga can be attacked before he can draw his sword.

Erga continued to study it. Unexpectedly, even though they were not Seyga, Kiluri, Densa and Namoru were good at using weapons.

Lonea shouted at Erga, "A Seyga fighting against more enemies is very troublesome. However, the seyga technique can overcome that. Maybe you should feel like you have become a Seyga and use your seyga technique."

Terza laughed at Lonea's words and said, "Come on, the seyga technique can be created according to the portion of training. If Erga trains hard with slashes, then he will be able to create the seyga technique with his slashes. This training will create great intuition, before moving on to real combat."

Lonea closed her eyes and said, "Yes, this is our different portion. The perspective of a Seyga Geni will be different from mine as a Seyga Sein. I really have to leave Erga in this training to you, Terza."

"Haha... Yes, because I am the king!" Terza said with a laugh.

Erga continued to try to defend and attack his opponent. But still could not understand the theory that Terza said.

Terza explained again.

Be relaxed. Panic is a natural reaction when someone fights with weapons. However, if Erga is tense, his mind will be weak so that Erga cannot act quickly, with full control, or with a clear mind. This can be fatal. With practice, Erga can learn to concentrate in dangerous situations. His mind will learn to focus on what is being faced.

Hearing the explanation, Erga tried to be calmer in fighting. Continue listening to Terza's explanation while practicing it.

Keep your body balanced so you can attack and block without getting hit. Always position your feet shoulder-width apart, and when moving, keep your legs spread apart.

Never position your feet close together. Use a sword grip that allows you to move easily. Watch your opponent's movements and learn how he moves when attacking and launching an opening attack.

Erga must be fast. When parrying, keep the sword close to the body so that he does not have to stretch his arms to parry the attack. Always try to counterattack. Foot movement and placement are key to balance. The more often the soles of your feet touch the ground, the better your balance becomes, so the more power you exert in your attacks.

To maintain balance, try to move by sliding your feet, rather than lifting and stepping them. Leaning forward will lift your heels, which will reduce your balance on the ground. Be careful with the placement and use of your feet in each strike, as this can give your opponent an easy opportunity to strike.

Keep your body straight with your chest and body pointing forward so that you maintain balance when you want to swing the sword. This also makes it easier for Erga to dodge opponent attacks with simple body movements. If the body faces to the side, Erga will be locked because it can only avoid attacks in one direction.

Terza explains the most important thing in this section.

Find the flow of the battle and try to control it when the fight starts. If you succeed in finding the flow of the fight and controlling it, Erga has a great chance of immediately ending the fight with a deadly move. This concept is difficult to understand, but Erga can try it next time when practicing fighting with friends.

One purpose that may be useful is, intimidation. Showing off your swordsmanship skills to an inexperienced opponent can damage a person's self-confidence. Making an opponent doubt his own ability to fight is a great psychological victory.

Find the pattern and flow of the fight from one move to the next, and try to control your opponent. A fighter usually attacks, defends, and applies the techniques with which he is most mastered and comfortable. It takes years and a lot of practice to gain this kind of ability. If Erga had mastered it, half the battle would be his.

After several hours of continuous attacks, Erga was very tired, but continued to remain calm.

When Kiluri attacked from the front, Erga shifted his feet, then tilted his body forward to dodge and attack. Erga managed to avoid Kiluri's attack and was able to hit him hard on his left rib.

But, after that, Erga was hit by attacks from Densa and Namoru until he fell.

Lonea and Terza were shocked by Erga's first spectacular action. Even though it's still an amateur, this is a great step for a beginner.

"Damn... Still hit." Erga said while scratching his head.

Lonea and Terza approached Erga. However, Kiluri didn't say anything after being attacked by Erga, as if he was enduring the pain.

Densa asked, "Are you okay, Uri?"

Namoru said something different, "It seems, Kiluri is having serious effects. Terza, can you check it?"

Erga stands up and apologizes to Kiluri if he hurt him.

Suddenly, Kiluri fell and became unconscious. Then, Terza and the others took the kiluri to the base to examine it.

After arriving at the base, Kiluri was laid on the bed and then Terza took off his clothes. When examined, Kiluri's left rib was broken and the effects were quite serious.

Terza said, "The rib cage has an important function, namely protecting the organs inside it, such as the heart and lungs. This condition can cause damage to the body's organs and make Kiluri experience breathing problems."

Terza uses healing techniques he got from his adoptive father.

Densa said as he left the place, "I'll go first, I'll tell Mena, so she doesn't worry."

"Kiluri can still survive. But from this moment on, he will never be able to become a Seyga. His heart will never be able to withstand the pressure of eltera power."

Erga was so sad after hearing Terza's words, "I... I didn't intend to do that. I'm sorry, Kiluri!"

Lonea tried to calm Erga.

"This is the least risk experienced by candidate Seyga. This is not your fault, Erga." Terza said.

"Isn't Erga not a Seyga? Why is the effect this bad?" Namoru asked confusedly.

"I felt it the first time I met him. Erga's punch was very strong like a high level Seyga. The pain was extraordinary, I even lost a lot of eltera in my body." Terza said with bulging eyes.

Lonea and Namoru were shocked to hear this.

"So... Is this the mysterious artiga power? But why can't it be used all the time?" Lonea asked.

Terza answered seriously, "I concluded... Erga can activate artiga power when he feels exhausted or almost dead. This power can be activated for defense, regeneration and attack. However, this is not the definition of artiga power. This is your power, Erga!"

Everyone was surprised by this. Erga is not a Seyga, but has the power of a Seyga.

Terza told everyone to leave that place, so he could focus more on healing Kiluri. Erga, Lonea and Namoru went to their respective places.
