My life was normal for the most part. I had two amazing parents who supported me no matter what, a cuddly German shepherd, a beautiful home in Paris, and one of the greatest friends in the world. Although, my great life came to an end quite fast and suddenly. I don't blame anyone for it although sometimes I wish it didn't happen or pretend it didn't.
This is the story of my final day. April 30th.
Although I did say that I have two amazing parents they're divorced. The good thing though is that it was a clean divorce and they both agreed it was for the best. The reason for this is that they both had many different views about things that they didn't always seem to compromise on. I was upset about it at first because I was younger and didn't fully understand why they didn't wanna be together. Of course, when I grew up I started to get a clearer understanding of why this happened. But this is beside the point.
I was currently at my mother's house since I spent every other week at her house. For the sake of all of you, I'll do my best to explain things people say in English than in French. I'm still trying to get used to speaking in English. "Celio! Start getting all your things ready to leave for your father’s and come eat breakfast!" My mother yelled from the kitchen as she was making breakfast. I had just woken up and my eyes were still trying to adjust to the bright sunlight coming through the windows by my bed. I was exhausted, not just from waking up, but from studying late last night.
My school has an astrology class and that's always been something that I've wanted to pursue so I've been working unbelievably hard in that class. My room was covered with papers, books, different diagrams, and so many more things. After a couple of minutes, I got out of bed, got dressed, brushed out my mop of hair, and made my way to the kitchen. "Morning mère."
"Good morning you. I made your favorite this morning! Waffles, syrup, and eggs!" My mother said with a smile on her face. She was a beautiful woman, my mother. Had light blonde hair, bright blue eyes, pale but yet somewhat olive skin, and freckles across her face. Her smile was very beautiful too, it always gave me such a happy and warm feeling when she smiled. Sometimes I wonder what she's doing now... or if she's even still alive. But anyway.
"Thanks, Mother," I said while sitting down and digging into my plate. She sat across from me and ate as well. Our mornings are pretty quiet for the most part, but now and then while eating we'll ask things and talk about stuff.
"Alors, quels sont vos projets avant de partir chez vos pères?" (So, what are your plans before you head out to your fathers?"
"Oh, well I was thinking about hanging out with Joules today. Maybe going shopping and stopping for a bite to eat in the process," I explained as I took another bite of my food. My school is on spring break right now so I have a couple of weeks off from school, and yes I still study even when I'm off from school. That's because I enjoy what I am studying.
After I was done eating, I went back to my room and started to pack up all my clothes and bring some of them out to my car. As I was loading things into the car someone snuck up behind me. 'Ohhh, CELIO!" Joules shouted directly into my ear while grabbing my arms. I might've screamed like a girl but maybe if she didn't scare me I wouldn't have!
"What the hell Joules! You almost made me drop my stuff!" I shouted at her as I put my last bag in the car. She laughed and said sorry while patting my back.
"You ready to head out now?" She asked with a smile on her face. I said yes and we went downtown to where all the shops and restaurants were. We spent a couple of hours walking around town going shopping. I didn't buy much except a few shirts but Joules on the other hand had about 5 different bags filled with stuff. Most likely things she doesn't even need.
After hours of walking around shopping, we made our way to our favorite cafe. It was a small cafe with a very cozy atmosphere. There's always the calmest music playing in the background and the food and drinks always smell so amazing. The inside is light brown and pale pink, the chairs are soft cushioned seats that are a much deeper pink color, and the tables are round and wooden. We went inside and found a seat. Joules ordered us some treats and drinks and we both dug into them.
"Hey, are you gonna go to James's party tonight? I heard everyone's going," She asked as she took a sip of her coffee. I was and never will be a party person but even if I wanted to go I had to get to my father's. My father also wanted to spend time together tonight and I've been looking forward to it all week.
"No, I'm not going. I was supposed to spend time with my dad once I went to his house, but maybe next time I'll go."
"Ugh, alright then. We should probably get going now. We spent way too much money today," She said as she got up and threw our trash away.
"You mean YOU spent too much money?" She scoffed and hit my arm as we walked out. We both said goodbye to each other and then went our separate ways. I headed back home and just relaxed for the time being. I didn't have to go to my father's for another two hours so I had some time to kill.
After a couple of hours had passed I got the last bag I needed, which was my backpack, and said bye to my mother. "Conduis prudemment mon cher, je te verrai la semaine prochaine." She said as she kissed my cheek and smiled. (Drive safe dear, I'll see you next week.)
"I will don't worry. Love you, Mom, now I gotta go!" I gave her one last hug and headed out to my car. I got in, put my bag in the passenger seat, and started driving to my father's. He doesn't live too far but he's also not super close either.
The drive was quiet for the most part. Now and then there'd be the occasional honk of a car due to traffic, but other than that it was silent with my music in the background. However, that honking grew more frequent. I tried to brush it off as just some ticked-off old man but, I couldn’t help but notice it more and more. I quickly glanced at my rearview mirror to see someone speeding right towards me. I tried to pull over off the street but I wasn't fast enough. The car rammed into the back of my car causing me to drive into a tree head-on. My head slammed against the windshield causing a shattering of the glass. The car was perpetually honking due to the impact against the tree. I tried to look around to see what happened but my vision was growing blurry. Then, everything went black.
When I finally woke up I was in a hospital, but I was in someone's room. I looked around for a minute till I realized whose room I was in. It was Joules. Instant panic rushed over me as I went to her bedside. "Joules what happened to you!?" No answer. I just assumed she was too upset or in pain to talk. Then my mom walked in and sat next to Joules, completely ignoring me.
"How are you feeling Joules?"
"I-I'm so sorry... I never meant for any of this to happen!" My mother shushed her and calmed her down. She told Joules it wasn't her fault for whatever happened. I was confused so I tried to get my mother's attention.
"Mom?" She still didn't answer. Why won't anyone answer me? Then Joules went on to say all the things that could've happened instead that could've changed the outcome so that "he" was still alive. After a couple of moments, my mother left and went to another room where my father and the rest of my family were. Why are they here? What happened? I moved past them all to see myself in the hospital bed.
I was so confused as to why I was looking at my own body. My body had all these tubes and machines attached to me. Then a doctor came in and said, "Are all of you ready?" My family all nodded their heads. The doctor then shut off the machines.
"W-Wait no I'm alive! I'm right here guys! Mom! Dad! Look at me I'm here!" I stood before them waving my hands but they were crying... then walked right through me. I was a ghost. I then started to cry out of confusion and frustration. "NO! I'M HERE I'M ALIVE! I'M ALIVE! I'M ALIVE!" I fell to my knees and sobbed. Why did this have to happen? Why now of all times?
Then out of the corner of my eye, I saw a pair of feet beside me. I looked up and it was a woman with short, dark brown hair, and her eyes were blacked out except for her yellow irises. "Celio come with me. Someone wants to meet you."
"Yeah who!? I bet no one can fix this!" I shouted at her. I didn't want to be mean to her I was just upset. I just want to be with my family again. "How can you even see me anyway...?"
"I can see you because I'm the angel of death, Azrael. Also, this person can't bring back your life but He can give you a great afterlife."
"And whose He?"
"God of course." What? That was the only thing I was able to say then. Little did I know that when I left Earth with her I'd meet God and have a great purpose.
