E : I’m making this Log two days after my first one, following one of my rare interactions with a Euclid-Class SCP. Particularly, one of the first and most well-known Anomalous Objects the Foundation has come across, or so I’ve heard. SCP 173. One of my side projects involves studying samples of 173’s Excrement, as I’ve taken interest in its acidic and anomalous properties. Granted, I have to subconsciously block the knowledge that it’s basically statue [REDACTED] out of my mind when I do experiments on the samples. However, that wasn’t necessarily the purpose of the recent experiment. We had recently been authorized to test a new model of Camera that the engineers believe may be more resistant to damage from SCP 173’s excrement, as many systems and devices have been in the past. To perform the experiment, we had a few D-Class personnel keep their eyes on it while the camera was installed. We also made sure to have the testing chamber perfectly clean. Afterwards, I personally monitored SCP 173 through the camera, along with a fellow member of the Research Staff, Dr. Lynn Griffin. We took turns monitoring SCP 173 over a period of about 3 weeks, finding that the Camera’s visual quality had degraded by the 15th Day, and was practically useless by the 20th, no longer able to serve the purpose it was installed for. Still, this experiment showed promise, as the Camera lasted significantly longer than previous camera models that were used in its containment chamber. Further refinement of the model and experimentation with the excrement itself could help develop surveillance equipment capable of keeping SCP 173 stationary for long periods of time.
However, the purpose of this Log was not only to detail the results of the test, but to also discuss a recent incident involving an anomalous Object that was transferred to Site-[REDACTED] during the aforementioned test with SCP 173. During this time, SCP 689, nicknamed “The Haunter in the Dark”, was transferred here for testing and containment. I don’t know the details, but I heard its previous chamber was damaged during a containment breach, requiring it to be moved. What I do know is that it’s already caused an incident. About 5 Days ago, it was discovered that the containment chamber had been tampered with, the door no longer able to close. Needless to say, given the nature of SCP 689, this presents a major problem and security risk. We’re already looking into who tampered with the door, following the event informally known as the “689 Office Occupation”, where a chain reaction with the statue’s effect lead to several members of Staff dying, and SCP 689 being temporarily confined within Dr. Griffin’s Office. Something Lynn’s very upset about, mind you. We’re awaiting orders on what to do, and there’s already been a request to transfer SCP 689 to a more secure facility. My personal guess? I think one of the members of Staff could’ve been the one to tamper with it to incite chaos. Lynn says it’s a ridiculous theory, but then again I’ve always been a fan of Chaos Theory in my hypotheses.

E : SCP 689 was retrieved just yesterday. Along with it, one of the newer camera models I mentioned before was taken to another Site for further testing. Things are certainly looking up in that department. Now, to address my previous comment about someone potentially tampering with the containment chamber intentionally, I’m aware that I’ve no evidence of this, and that I shouldn’t overstep my boundaries. My intentions were not to incite suspicion or panic, but to offer my own opinion on the matter. I’ll refrain from commenting on it further, as were the instructions from Site Director Klaus, though I’ll still be keeping my eyes open and investigating as much as my clearance allows. In related news, Dr. Griffin’s Office was left in tact, though she didn’t seem to appreciate my joke about keeping it as an “Attention-Grabbing Decoration”, as she proceeded to put a realistic Cardboard Cutout of SCP 173 in my Office while I was sleeping and damn near gave me a heart attack. All in good fun, though I’m definitely getting her back at some point. I’m keeping the cutout by the way, it’s cool.
