Mia yawned tiredly as she checked the last document on her desk and smiled in satisfaction. "What a hectic day," she sighed, yawning again.
Suddenly, she saw Bryson standing in front of her, staring at her with a cold expression. She almost stumbled out of her seat in shock. "I—"
"I'm off. You can continue where you stopped tomorrow," he said, not waiting for her reply before storming out of the company.
"That jerk, I'm done already," she groaned, standing up and leaving the company to hail a cab home. She was still waiting when a force like gravity dragged her away, and she saw Dylan's angry face staring at her.
"Where the hell have you been? I've been calling you countless times, but you didn't even bat an eye. It feels like I'm dating myself," Dylan retorted angrily, rumpling his hair in annoyance and licking his lips.
"What are you talking about? I've been working my ass off at BT Company all day, and my phone is off," Mia retorted angrily.
"BT Company? So you finally got a job there without informing me?" Dylan asked, his face dark with rage.
"Yes, I finally got a job, and there's nothing you're going to do about it," Mia said, starting to walk away, but Dylan dragged her back.
"See, Dylan, please leave me alone. I'm too tired for all your dramas. We can discuss this tomorrow," Mia pleaded in a low tone.
"Mia, you know what? Quit that job. I can't stand you working with Bryson," Dylan said.
"You've got to be kidding me, Dylan. Please leave me alone," Mia said.
Dylan was so furious that he continued dragging Mia, failing to notice the tired expression on her face. She was becoming weak and tense.
"Did you ever love me? All my life, I've been the only one running after you. I'm living miserably because of you. If you love me, you will never go against my wish," he yelled, tears welling up in his eyes.
"Dylan, please, I'm weak," Mia said in a low voice, but Dylan didn't hear her and continued shouting and yelling. Mia shut her eyes as she fell to the ground, and blood oozed out of her nose. Dylan was startled as he fell to his knees, trying to wake Mia up, but she remained still and motionless. He tried checking her pulse and was relieved to feel it, albeit slowly.
"Mia, please hang in there for me. I will never stress you again. Get well for me, baby," he cried.
As he paced back and forth, his phone started ringing. He checked the caller ID and saw that it was Nora. He picked it up reluctantly.
"Mia is yet to come home, and I've been worried sick. Have you seen her?" Nora asked nervously from the other end of the line.
Dylan sighed heavily before replying, "We had a little argument, and she fainted. We're at the hospital."
Nora shouted, "You psychopath! You jerk! You idiot! What have you done to my friend, you fool?"
Dylan told her the name of the hospital, and the call ended abruptly. A few minutes later, Nora rushed into the hospital like a crazy woman. As soon as she saw Dylan, her anger intensified, and she ran up to him, dragging his shirt.
"You psychopath! What the hell did you do to my friend? Your plan is to destroy her life, right?" She kept yelling while Dylan stood still, shedding tears like a baby.
"Nora, I love Mia, and I will never do anything to hurt her. I'm sorry; it was all my fault. I will change now," he pleaded.
Nora shouted furiously, "You idiot! What type of crazy love is that? You are choking Mia, and it's time to break up with her. I can't let you ruin her."
Dylan yelled, tears trickling down his cheeks, "Never! I will never leave Mia. I'm madly in love with her, Nora. Stay out of our love affairs; it's none of your business."
Nora said, "I know how to treat animals like you." She sighted a doctor walking towards them and ran up to him, with Dylan following.
"Doctor, how's she?" Dylan asked nervously.
The doctor replied, "Miss Mia is fine but needs rest. She will be discharged tomorrow evening. I want to ask you guys a question: Is she going through any stress? She appears stressed, tensed, and emotionally drained."
Nora spoke up, glaring at Dylan, "Doctor, ask him. He's the one causing all that stress."
Dylan spoke up sadly in a low tone, "She's my girlfriend, Doc. We had a little argument, and..."
Nora cut in angrily, "Oh, cut the crap, you psychopath! Do you call that a little argument that made her faint?"
The doctor stopped them from arguing further, "Please don't cause a ruckus here. I just want you to take good care of her and avoid involving her in anything that causes stress."
Nora asked, "Can I see my friend?"
The doctor replied, "Yes, but make sure you don't stress her in there."
Nora pushed Dylan away as she ran into the ward. Dylan lost his balance and fell to the floor with a loud thud, sounding like a bag of rice. People in the hospital stared at him and chuckled. He glared at them and shouted, "Nora, you bitch!"
