I wake Nadja up and get ready to get off the plane. After the landing, the guy with blue eyes stays close to us until we have to get our suitcases. "Which one is yours?" he asks. It's only now that Nadja notices him and she gives me a questioning look. I explain quickly what my suitcase looks like while ignoring Nadja's gaze. He spots my suitcase and before I can even make a move, he goes to grab it.
"What happened while I was asleep?" Nadja whispers. In a few short sentences, I try to explain what I know about him before he comes back. My best friend sees me blushing and can't hold back a giggle. Sometimes I wish I could just disappear but now I’ll have to face the embarrassment of being red as a tomato in front of a guy who just wanted to be friendly.
After he comes back with my suitcase and Nadja finally finds hers, I realise that it's time to say goodbye. I stand there, just looking around, while Nadja's already a few steps ahead of me. My eyes go back to staring into the guy’s deep blue eyes. "It was nice meeting you," he says with a slight smile. At this moment, I notice that I don't even know his name or his phone number. To be honest, I actually know close to nothing about this stranger. However, as he hands me my suitcase, my hand touches his and it feels as if the airport just got a little brighter. Is that what people call “sparks flying between us”? It definitely didn’t feel like sparks, it just made the area a bit brighter. He seems to feel it too because he stares at his hand and then back at me. Maybe he’s also just not used to touching people or I hurt him. Oh no, I have to stop this. How could I hurt him by just touching his hand for a second?
I look at Nadja quickly but she's busy on her phone. Trying to stop my thoughts from going crazy again, I decide that I don't want this to be the last time I see this guy.
"I forgot to ask for your phone number," I blurt out, hoping that I'm not stuttering.
His blue eyes seem to show confusion but he smiles, "Give me your phone and I'll give you mine." I get my phone out of my pocket and give it to him after unlocking it. He does the same with his phone and I quickly type in my name and my phone number. As I get my phone back, it shows the new contact: Ayden.
"I hope I'll hear from you again, Ayden," I say and he nods even though I probably sounded slightly awkward. Is he able to hear my nervousness? Does he notice how nervous I get when he looks at me like that? Saving me from my overthinking, he gives me a calming smile. With that, he turns around and walks away. After a few steps, he looks over his shoulder and winks at me before heading out of the airport. Well, that's it. This guy has me wrapped around his finger.
"Such a weirdo, what did you want from him?" Nadja asks when I'm walking next to her again.
"He's not a weirdo," I mumble.
Nadja chuckles, "Did you notice that he didn't even have a suitcase?"
"Are you saying that all people without a suitcase at the airport are weirdos?" I ask and Nadja nods, making us both laugh again.

Luckily, the hotel we're staying in looks even better than in the pictures. We can see part of the beach from our room! Nadja happily jumps on the first bed and declares it as hers. I'm fine with that, I prefer the bed closer to the window anyway. The bathroom doesn't look too luxurious but it's good enough for us. I put my suitcase next to my bed and look through the clothes to choose something to change into. "Can we have a calm evening today? I just want to have dinner and then go to bed," I mumble while falling onto my bed.
"What? We just had a three-hour flight to rest!" Nadja complains, making me shake my head.
"You rested, I didn't even get a peaceful moment!"
"Seemed like you got a few good moments with Mr Sunglasses though," Nadja winks at me. "Did you get his number?"
I turn on my bed to look at her and nod. She seems rather excited about this and spends almost fifteen minutes trying to convince me to go out this evening, forgetting that she called him a weirdo not long ago. In the end, I manage to make her understand that I'm too tired to meet up with a stranger. Even though I tell her more about him and what we've talked about, she doesn't realise how interested I am in this guy. Is this a crush already or just a natural interest in a new person? “Love at first sight” would be a bit of an exaggeration but there was definitely something between us, right? Did he also feel that? What if I made a complete fool of myself?
"So, Mr Sunglasses, Ayden, will be our personal guide on this holiday. Even if he doesn't permanently live here, he probably knows more than we do," my friend concludes.
I just shake my head, "You can't just decide that. We can simply look stuff up online."
"Come on, he's handsome! Let's just spend some time with him, maybe he has some hot friends as well. You deserve some fun after everything that happened with-"
I stopped her before she could mention my ex's name, "Alright, we can talk about this tomorrow. Maybe I can ask him for some fun activities around here."
Because of my lack of energy, I decide not to argue with her about just wanting to enjoy the sun all day, lying on the beach and relaxing. I don't want to go sightseeing every day or do some probably dangerous sports at the beach. However, texting Ayden tomorrow doesn't seem like a bad idea. He won't think that's weird, will he?
