Lilith was always alone. Alone in the big old world. Locked everywhere around the world, nobody trusted her. Even when she was alive.
She was treated perfectly, when she was younger. Her hair was tied in two blonde braids, by two blue ribbons. Her eyes were as piercing as the blue sky in summer, and her skin was as beautiful as porcelain.
Yet when her parents didn't love her anymore, they would ignore her. They had always been like that. Every time that they didn't like something or someone-their daughter, for example- they blamed it on God knows what. Never would've they admitted their sins. Oh that never. They were perfect, they retorted every single time.
And yes, at Lilith's time, religion was very important in the society. Her parents could've been badly, yet the way they spoke made the strongest men shiver. Yet herself wanted to hide from society itself. Correction: She wanted to be invisible.
Her mother had a cold and grey neutral gaze. She had a muscular physique, without a single flaw neither a scar. Never would she show any weaknesses. Her opportunism made her terrifying to the people's eyes, including her own daughter Lilith.
Her father always had the last word. And he was perfect. Whether he was perfect or not, his darkened heart made him pitiless. Never would he arrive one minute late at the office. He was the employee of the day each day, whether he worked great or that he forced them to. His hair was flat over his head, and even though nobody liked its grey colour, nobody dared to speak.
And Lilith, her, was imperfect. She used to be happy when they treated her as if she was a precious doll and a princess, back then. Yet when she wasn't how they wanted her to, they'd kick her away ruthlessly. She had to do the best. "You have to do more than best" Her mother always insisted.
She would've liked getting love from her parents from who she was. Yet perfection was the only thin they saw. Love seemed taboo to them, as most of the people of this time agreed with them. What mattered what perfection.
Yet nobody's perfect, and surely not Lilith.
One day, the girl wanted to escape. Escape this cruel reality. The eigthteenth century was too much for her. She jumped over her window, at night. She thought she could finally be free. Unfortunately, a car rushed on her and she lost her life.
And yes, Lilith was a ghost, a real life ghost. The girl thought she could create herself a better future, but then it all ended for her. No, she didn't feel anything, but her body shaped itself into an invisible human that would float. Nobody could see her; she could float, fly.
At first, she was happy. Quicker than she thought, she figured immortal life as a spectrum wasn't as fun as that. Nobody to play with. Now, Lilith was three-hundred-and-five years old, but not proud of it. The issue was that nobody even saw her, as she stayed with her appearance of a young girl.
The spirit took her place at an old cathedral, in France. She took time to make it look murky, so that nobody visits it. The girl wanted to spend a century (minimum) alone to think about her life decisions.
She couldn't kill herself; she was already dead. Lilith tried scaring others, but there wasn't anything amusing in that. Everything changed when a family settled in.
Of a family who wasn't afraid of haunted houses. One who wasn't afraid of stereotypes. For once in her lifetime, Lilith felt excited. Happy. Those kids- Marilou and Isaac, she heard their names multiple times- could see the creatures in the manor.
They believed in it. Lilith felt a small pain in her heart as she saw Marilou's hesitation with the idea of admitting that she saw a ghost. She was considered unrealistic. As if she didn't exist. The movie Ghostbusters lightened her mood, yet not really when she noticed the spectrums ended up losing.
Just like Lilith. She always ended up losing, whatever she did. And today, she gave herself a mission; meet the Daniel twin in person! And ask them what nobody could've guessed...Ah, I'm letting you read!
The spirit levitated, searching the twins. They spoke, and Lilith felt herself bounce when she heard Isaac admitting what he thought seeing. Great, it started to work! She wanted the alive people to believe in ghosts...
Suddenly, taking advantage of a moment of silence, Lilith made herself invisible, to be sure they wouldn't see her. Not yet. She had a plan, and she wanted it to work absolutely.
She let them discuss various topics, and she winced. She never had real siblings, yet she wanted comfort. Understanding.
Sighing deeply, the girl took the occasion and jumped on them to add confusion. They didn't see her-she planned it- yet they felt a gentle breeze.
Lilith laughed silently as she noticed Marilou shuddering, while Isaac's eyes widened, watching around him nervously.
- Spirit, who's there? The boy asked, with a half teasing voice, half terrified voice
- Yeah, we felt that! His younger sister added
Lilith didn't know why they called her. Hesitantly, the girl remove her transparency, making ure they could see her. She smiled, trying not to scare them. Noticing their awful silence, Lilith laughed and extended her hand:
- I'd like a favor, the twins.
