"Ouch! It hurts. Stop doing it." Riley said to Dean, who was applying the ointment to his cheek. He told him already that the nurse at the school's infirmary had already treated him, but here he goes again. It seemed he was going to scrape skin from his cheek.
"How many times have I told you not to get into fights. Why don't you listen to me?" Dean closed the tube and threw it on the table near the bed.
"It's not as big a deal as you are making it. It was only a punch. Stop acting as if I was going to die there." Riley said, touching his cheek lightly. It was burning. Dean put too much pressure while applying ointment on it. It was hurting too.
"You were! I heard from other students what happened and that you complained about that guy to the teacher. What if he comes to take revenge on you?" Dean sat on the bed next to Riley and said.
Riley thought for a second that when he complained about anyone to the teacher. He didn't say anything; he just acted a little, and the teacher found out herself.
"I didn't complain about anything. The teacher saw it herself." Riley got up from the bed and gave Dean a reassuring smile, "And stop worrying. I'm fine."
"Why won't I worry? It's you who start all these things, then they come to me to find you. They ask me where you are, and if I don't tell, they threaten me. Man, stop all these things before I tell your mom everything you do in school. About Miles too." Dean warned Riley and then fell back on the bed. His head was hurting thinking about what happened today. He really needs to talk to Riley's mom before he gets into some big trouble.
"Then try and tell mom. I also want to see if you can do it or not." Riley grinned and fell onto the bed next to Dean. He knew Dean would never tell his secrets to his mom, which is why he is his best friend. And moreover, if his mom found out what he did at school, it would worry her, which he couldn't let happen ever.
"You won't tell, right?" Riley turned his head toward Dean and asked him. Although he believes in his best friend, it only takes something delicious to open his mouth, and if his mom caresses his head a little and asks him nicely, he will spill everything to her. It scares him a little sometimes, but he still believes in Dean. He knows he will keep his secret safe, as he has done until now.
" No, I can do it. And I'm going to do it right now." Dean said and quickly got up from the bed to make a run to downstairs, but he wasn't going to tell Riley's mom anything. He was only going to see what Riley's mom was cooking because a delicious smell was hitting his nostrils. It was making him hungry.
"No. Brother, you can't do that." Riley said and pulled Dean by his arm to make him lie on the bed again, but accidentally, Dean fell on top of Riley instead on the bed.
"Boys, come downstairs and..." Riley's mom opened the door and said, but as she saw the scene in front of her, she swallowed the next words she was going to say and instead she said,
"What you two are doing? At least you should close the door before starting anything." She smiled a little and then closed the door behind her.
Dean was stunned, and so was Riley, but not as much as Dean. Dean was still staring at the door with a blank expression. His eyes were as if his soul had left his body, and now there was nothing left in him. His face had turned pale. He wasn't moving at all or saying anything. It was impossible to say if he was even breathing or not.
"Are you planning to stay on top of me forever?" Riley asked and chuckled a little.
Dean came back to his senses and realised once again what had just happened. His favourite aunt misunderstood something very big, something she never should, because they weren't doing anything.
"Man, are you alright?" Riley patted Dean's shoulder a little and then burst into laughter. He knew he shouldn't laugh but console his friend, but he couldn't control himself after seeing those horrific expressions on Dean's face.
"How can I be okay?" Dean yelled as he quickly got up from Riley and stood away from him.
"It all happened because of you. Now how will I face them? It's so embarrassing." Dean covered his face with his hands and sat on his feet. "It's so embarrassing." Dean said once again as he shook his head with his hands still covering his face.
Riley put his hand on his mouth and tried to hold his laugh inside his mouth. He had never seen Dean like that before. He always acted more maturely than his age, but here he was acting like a kid, as he couldn't take what just happened.
"Okay. Calm down; that wasn't a big deal." Riley came to Dean and put his hands on his shoulder, trying to comfort him.
"How come nothing happened? They saw us. What they must be thinking about me now?" Dean doesn't know what to do. He was feeling like he should hide somewhere and then never come out of there—never show his face to anyone again.
"It all happened because of you." Dean pushed Riley, and Riley fell back on the floor.
"What did I do now? it was You who fell on me." Riley said, smiling. He wanted to tease Dean a little more, but he knew if he did, Dean would explode on him like a bomb.
"Don't say that." Dean once again covered his face with his hands.
" Okay. I won't." Riley tried to get a little serious.
"Let's go downstairs and tell your mom..." Dean mumbled against his hands.
"Tell what?" Riley came close to Dean and sat in front of him just like Dean was sitting on his feet.
"Tell that... waaaaa!! " Dean buried his face in his knees and didn't look up.
" Alright. Alright. Let's go. Don't act like this. You are worrying me." Riley patted Dean's shoulder, and only then did Dean raise his head.
"Okay, let's go." Dean spoke, standing up from the floor with Riley.
They both came downstairs, and there Riley's mom was putting food on the dining table.
Riley went to the dining table and sat in one of the chairs to eat, but Dean kept standing away. He wanted someone to tell him to sit, and only then was he going to sit.
