When we get to Chloe, we see that our whole room is a total mess of clothes, shoes and accessories and in the middle of it all stands Chloe.
“Oh finally, help me I can't find my shoes” she says desperately when she sees us.
Hannah is standing by the bathroom door and just rolls her eyes and winks at me.
“Chloe hasn't backed down from clearing out your suitcases either,” she says in a slightly annoyed tone.
“What?” says Anne in astonishment. “Chloe, why would your shoes be in our suitcases?”
“I don't know, I panicked and just opened everything I found. I'm sorry and Lily I haven't looked at your diary if that's what you're thinking.”
I hadn't even thought of that “Oh okay, thanks, I guess?” I reply, perplexed.
“Chloe, you can't do that,” Anne says, annoyed, and starts arguing with Chloe.
I walk over to Hannah, who is watching this chaos unfold.
“Are you feeling better?” I ask her.
“Yes, thank you, I feel fine again. But all this craziness in this room is making me all tingly myself. I'll be glad when we don't have to share our room with these two anymore.” she says to me quietly.
“Oh really? I think they're both totally okay.”
“You're totally fine with everything, Lily. Nothing upsets you, but Chloe is always so loud and crazy and I can't read Anne. She seems cold and distant,” she says.
"I don't think so." I reply as I look over at the two of them.
Anne gives a monologue about privacy and the importance of respecting it. She waves her arms in the air. Presumably to emphasize her words. I think back to the previous moment in front of the bakery, and I get that cozy feeling again.
“Lily, you're just too nice and you let far too many people get away with it.” Hannah brings me back to the situation.
“Whatever you say,” I reply and start looking for these important shoes.
I go into the bathroom, as Chloe spends a lot of time in there, and search through everything. Nothing. Finally, I look in the shower. There they are. I start laughing loudly. “Found them,” I shout loudly to the front.
Chloe and Anne interrupt their discussion and are now standing in the bathroom doorway.
“What, how did they end up in there?” Chloe asks. She looks at Anne, annoyed.
I look over at Hannah and see a mischievous laugh. She pulls her shoulders up, turns around and goes out onto the balcony. Anne spots my laugh and follows my gaze to Chloe.
“All right,” she says, ”problem solved.”
Chloe grabs her shoes and disappears outside too.
“Hey, who's going to clean up all the mess?” Anne calls after her.
“I guess it's up to us now,” I say as Anne turns to me.
“Great” says Anne, annoyed, and drops onto her bed.
“Come on, we'll get there quickly. Good music and everything goes much better.”
I get the speakers from Hannah and connect my cell phone.
“Imagine Dragons?” I ask over to the bed. All I get in response is a thumbs up. As the first song plays, I turn up the volume and start packing my clothes back into my suitcase. Anne doesn't move on the bed. After a few minutes, I go over to her and shake her knees. She opens her eyes.
“Come on,” I say to her and hold out my hand. After a deep exhalation, she takes my hand and I feel that warmth again. As I pull her up, I look out to the balcony. No one in sight. My favorite song is just starting to play and I begin to move slowly to the music. Anne sits on the bed and watches me. A smile spreads across her face and I hold out my hand to her again.
“Everything is much better with dancing and music,” I say to her. When Anne stands up and we stand hand in hand in front of each other, time seems to stand still again for a moment. The best part of the song starts and I let go of Anne's hand and start dancing even more.
“You're crazy, do you know that?” Anne asks me with a smile. But she doesn't wait for my answer and starts dancing too. We dance around our room and tidy up the mess together. It feels so good to just dance, forget everything and just be. In this moment. With Anne.
