The boys strolled and dragged their feet toward the old town. They were not looking forward to a confrontation with their father. Their father is a hardworking man and a proud sailor. He is a no-nonsense kind of guy and will not tolerate Chris's shenanigans. He knew that Johnny didn't participate in the fireworks' fiasco, but he is afraid that Johnny might take some bad influence from his brother when he enters high school and wants to teach him responsibility at an early age.

The boys made their way to their house, and Chris opened the old, creaky door and let out a sigh. He smelled grilled garlic fish and knew Dad was home to confront them.

"Ladies first." Chris told Johnny to hold the door for him. Johnny rolled his eyes and went toward the kitchen. 

Dad had put two plates full of food on the table and waited for the boys to be seated. 

“Your mother had told me what you did, Chris. You are lucky that Mr. Samson didn’t get the cops and called her right away." Dad stared at Chris angrily. 

“It was Derrick who set the fireworks. I just watched. " Chris tried to blame it on him 100%

“Derrick’s father was called as well, and he is dealing with him. I’m dealing with you.” Interrupted Dad

“You will start working on Monday, but this weekend we will visit Grandma and Grandpa. You will be helping them with cleaning.

“Wait, what? Isn’t working in the store enough? Now you have to take away my weekends from me?" Argued Chris. 

“It is decided! I am not raising a hooligan in this family!" Yelled Dad 

Chris slammed his hands on the table and then walked off into his room. Johnny was quiet and continued eating.

“Johnny…. I know you were not involved with your brother and his friend group. I don’t want you to end up in the wrong crowd, as Chris is just to be popular.” Dad explained 

“I know…. But I don’t understand why I am getting punished." Asked Johnny

“You are not Johnny, not at all. You are able to keep your earnings, but your brother doesn’t.” Dad responded 

"For real? "Maybe I can save up for a car..."Said Johnny. 

"Yes, you can, and I can teach you how to drive before you get one.” Dad said

“What about Chris?"I asked Johnny, kind of feeling bad for him

“Don’t worry about him. He needs to learn a lesson about value! When his earnings go to Mr. Samson’s car. He will know what a hardworking dollar is." Dad said.

Just when Johnny was finished eating, he heard the door opening. Mom came back from grocery shopping and set the bag on the table.

“Hey, did you talk to Chris? "Asked Mom.

“Of course, he isn’t happy, but he will be over it.” Responded Dad.

Johnny eventually excused himself from the table after a similar conversation with Mom that he had with his Dad.

Grandma and Grandpa lives 3 hours away from Johnny, but he doesn't mind going to Grandma and Grandpa's house; he loved hearing spooky urban mythology stories told around the small town by his grandmother. It makes the town seem less boring to live in. He also enjoyed going into the deeper side of the forest with his grandfather, and he shows little things that would help you survive when you are lost in the deep woods. 

It’s also the time when Chris and Johnny had great memories of actually getting along and spending time together. Maybe tomorrow it can happen again, and they can become close like they were once again after this trip. 

Nighttime has passed, and Johnny opens the window from his room and climbs into the roof. He turned on his CD player to play his favorite songs from his band and laid down on the side of the roof to enjoy the night sky.
