Apocalypse Approaches: I've Stockpiled 100 Years' Worth of Supplies
Chapter 4: Building the Apocalypse Shelter
Chapter 4: Building the Apocalypse Shelter
Oct 24, 2024
Renault carefully checked the bird’s nest and confirmed that the baby birds had already died from the cold.
He sighed, realizing that even if he had discovered them earlier, they probably wouldn’t have survived. The chicks were just too weak and abandoned in their nest to stand a chance.
After burying the baby birds, Renault gently removed the nest from the tree and brought it inside the villa.
He placed the nest in a safe corner of the house, deciding to take care of any remaining birds. He gathered some insects to feed the chicks, hoping to keep the few survivors alive.
After eating and resting, the remaining chicks calmed down and fell asleep. Renault felt a bit of comfort knowing that at least these ones were saved. Having something to take care of during the apocalypse might not be such a bad idea.
Who knows? If some people bring their dogs into the apocalypse, why not bring some birds along?
...
Later that day, the construction company Renault had hired arrived at the villa. A large armored vehicle pulled up, and out stepped a group of workers in heavy-duty gear.
Leading them was a burly man named Mu Zheng, whose imposing stature made even Renault look small in comparison.
“You must be mr reno,” Mu Zheng said with a firm handshake. “I’ve heard of your project and I’ve got to say, this is quite the challenge.”
Renault gave a polite nod as Mu Zheng handed over his business card. It read: Mu Zheng, Construction Expert.
Renault wasn’t in the mood for small talk, so he quickly led Mu Zheng into the villa and began explaining his ideas for turning the mansion into a survival shelter.
Mu Zheng listened carefully as Renault outlined his plans, his eyes growing wider as he realized the extent of the modifications needed.
After Renault finished, Mu Zheng couldn't help but ask, “mr reno, are you sure about this? It sounds like you're preparing for the end of the world!”
“That’s exactly right,” Renault replied calmly. “I want to build a shelter that can withstand the apocalypse.”
Seeing Renault was serious, Mu Zheng cleared his throat. “Alright then, if you’re set on this, my sister will help with the design. She’s an expert in architectural planning.”
Mu Zheng excused himself for a moment and made a quick phone call. Not long after, a woman in a professional outfit arrived.
Her name was Mu Wanqing, and as she approached Renault, he was momentarily stunned by her presence. She was not only beautiful but had a cold, professional demeanor that made her stand out even more.
There was something striking about her that Renault couldn’t quite describe. She carried an air of elegance that was hard to ignore.
Mu Wanqing was introduced as an expert in design from the City Academy of Arts, specializing in structural planning. After greeting Renault with a polite nod, she got straight to the point.
“I heard you’re planning on converting this villa into an apocalypse shelter?” she asked, her voice as cool as her demeanor.
Renault nodded. “That’s right. I need something strong and fortified to survive what’s coming.”
Mu Wanqing raised an eyebrow slightly but didn’t argue. She pulled out a notepad and started asking questions about the specific requirements for the shelter.
...
After several rounds of discussion, Renault felt more confident in the plans. Mu Wanqing was surprisingly knowledgeable about the intricate details needed for survival, showing expertise in areas like structural fortification and emergency systems.
“Miss Mu,” Renault asked curiously, “How do you know so much about building shelters?”
Mu Wanqing smiled faintly and replied, “I have an interest in post-apocalyptic design. It’s a bit of a hobby, and I’ve always imagined designing fortresses for such scenarios.”
Renault chuckled softly, impressed by her enthusiasm. “Well, I’m glad I found you then. I’m counting on you to help me build the perfect apocalypse shelter.”
Mu Wanqing assured Renault that she would have the initial designs and cost estimates ready within a few days.
...
Several hours later, the sun was setting, and after a busy day discussing construction plans, Renault sat down to a simple dinner of takeout with Mu Zheng and Mu Wanqing.
Throughout the meal, Renault continued to emphasize the urgency of the project. He explained that the modifications to the villa needed to be completed quickly, as he wanted to be fully prepared before the first signs of the apocalypse.
Mu Zheng nodded, assuring Renault that they would prioritize the project and finish as quickly as possible. “Money won’t be an issue,” Renault added, “I’ll pay whatever it takes to get it done right.”
After dinner, Mu Zheng pulled his sister aside and asked, “What do you think of Renault? Is he serious about all of this?”
Mu Wanqing thought for a moment before replying, “I think he’s genuine. He really believes the world is going to end and wants to be prepared for it. I don’t think he’s just playing around.”
“Do you think he’s crazy?” Mu Zheng asked, concerned.
Mu Wanqing shook her head. “No, I don’t. If anything, I think he’s doing the right thing by preparing for the worst.”
...
The next morning, Renault woke up feeling rested for the first time in weeks. His mind was clear, and the stress of his inheritance battles seemed far behind him.
The baby birds in the corner of the room chirped softly, fully recovered from the previous day. Renault fed them as he prepared for another busy day.
By noon, Mu Zheng and Mu Wanqing returned, this time bringing the finalized design plans and an estimated budget.
“mr reno, based on our calculations, the total cost for the modifications will be around 1.5 million yuan,” Mu Zheng said as he handed Renault the detailed plans.
Renault glanced over the figures and nodded, pleased with the result. He knew this investment would pay off once the apocalypse began.
The apocalypse shelter was starting to take shape.
The apocalypse has arrived and the world is falling apart.
Humanity has valued these documents for decades. Now, it's too late. As the end approaches the world, chaos rages and survival turns into an extraordinary battle to the death.
But someone is ready.
He quietly stockpiled enough supplies to see him through the end. While others fought for food, water, and shelter, he watched from hiding in his fortress, which was stocked with everything he needed for the long journey. Will he really have enough weight when civilization finally collapses?
