We've had elections decided by thousands (2004 [Ohio]) and even hundreds (2000 [Florida]) of votes, and this is looking too close to call.

Is the story predictive of what would happen if Trump wins? Hopefully not very. However, the Republicans have been wholly unable to separate themselves from him due to the excuse that he was somehow cheated in 2020, despite losing dozens of court challenges. Whether it's his kids succeeding him, or the next Trumpist disciple, if he wins in 2024, his brand of twisted conservatism and his lasting influence isn't going away. It unfortunately has an effect that extends beyond the US and could easily lead to a far more unstable planet.

If he loses again, whether he goes to prison or not, his brand will be weakened to the point that hopefully the GOP can reclaim their party from him, restoring the US to some sanity since one of the most infamous New York con-artists of all time first ran for office. He has lied about the path of hurricanes, using a sharpie, suggested nuking hurricanes, suggested calling his daughter (Ivanka) a "piece of @__" on the Howard Stern show, been labeled a "fascist to the core" by his own generals, a threat to democracy by his own Secretary of Defense, overturned 50 years of policy about illegal West Bank settlements recieving funding, leading to an surge of said settlements further exacerbating tensions in the middle east, lied about the Central Park 5 for decades since the incident, lied about Hatian immigrants "eating the pets", lied about Obama's birth repeatedly, and this is an easily google-able sample of Trump's many vices, aside from his mishandling of the pandemic.
