Two years had passed since Allegra first woke up in that body and that strange world. In those two years, she had gradually learned to adapt to her new reality, though not without significant effort. During this time, she had managed to master the language enough to communicate with some fluency, and now she was about to return to school—something she never imagined doing so soon.
The overwhelming sadness she felt as Felicity, that sensation of life slipping away, had slowly faded. Allegra didn’t fully understand why. Was it because she was now younger? Because she was in a male body? Or perhaps simply because her new life had started to offer her a renewed sense of purpose? Part of this transformation she attributed to the almost boundless energy she felt in her new body, which she channeled into sports—something she had never considered as Felicity. Exercise not only allowed her to release that pent-up energy but also relieved her mind, leaving less space for sadness.
Over these years, Allegra devoted much of her time to studying—not just school subjects but also the world around her. Entire notebooks filled with notes and reflections emerged from her growing curiosity. Through these studies, she confirmed what she had suspected since that breakfast when she noticed the date on the newspaper: indeed, it was the year 2000. But the year was almost the only thing that matched the world she had known as Felicity. The country names, maps, even cultures—everything was different. The country that should have been hers had a different shape and a different name.
With each discovery, her determination to find her family grew stronger. Allegra felt that there must be some connection, some bridge between her past and her present, and she was determined to find it. She had discussed this on several occasions with Aoi and Wolfgang, who, instead of offering the support she expected, sent her to a psychologist, worried about Allegra’s persistent idea of reclaiming a life that seemed to them only a product of her imagination.
Despite the sessions with the psychologist and the logical explanations she was given about her "supposed" past life, Allegra couldn’t shake that part of herself that remembered everything with such clarity. Each session became a challenge, an internal struggle between the need to hold on to what she knew and the growing pressure to accept the reality everyone else saw.
Now, as she prepared to go back to school, Allegra was more determined than ever not to be swept along with the current. Her thoughts constantly returned to her family, to the life she had lost. Though this new world and this new life offered a certain peace, Allegra knew she would not rest until she found the answers she was searching for.
At night, Allegra stood in her room, looking out at the garden that had brought her so much comfort. Although two years had passed and much of the sadness had faded, there was one thing she would never forget: her determination to uncover the truth, no matter the cost.
