Chapter 7: Sunset Serenity

Chapter 7: Sunset Serenity

Oct 28, 2024

Haneul’s eyelids fluttered open, warm sunset light filling the room. He lay in bed, blanket wrapped around his body, relaxed.

Jihoon emerged from the bathroom, topless, water droplets glistening on his hair and skin. Haneul’s gaze followed the trail of water down Jihoon’s spine.

Jihoon sensed Haneul’s gaze and turned, a gentle smile on his lips.

“You're awake,” Jihoon whispered, approaching the bed.

“You really have the habit of leaving me out to sleep, don't you?” Jihoon teased, “How’s your body? Sorry, Haneul, I tried to be as gentle as possible.” his face showing concern and a hint of embarrassment.

Haneul’s face flushed, memories of their passion flooding back. His heart skipped a beat, longing rekindled.

“I’m fine,” Haneul whispered, his voice laced with affection.

Jihoon’s eyes crinkled, his smile widening. Haneul’s heart fluttered, captivated by Jihoon’s beauty.

“Come here,” Jihoon whispered, leaning forward, arms open, inviting Haneul into his embrace.

Haneul’s hand found Jihoon’s, their fingers intertwining as Haneul nestled into Jihoon’s warm hold.

Jihoon covered Haneul’s naked body with the blanket, wrapping it in cozy warmth.

The sunset’s glow streamed through the window, casting a golden light on their entwined forms.

Haneul’s eyes drifted closed, feeling safe and loved.

Jihoon’s lips brushed Haneul’s forehead, a gentle kiss.

Haneul whispered, “Does it mean you’re mine now, Mr. Kim?”

Haneul’s face flushed with embarrassment, but his eyes sparkled with curiosity.

Jihoon let out a small laugh, his eyes crinkling at the corners. He kissed Haneul’s hand, still holding it tenderly.

“What do you think?” Jihoon asked, his smile brightening.

Haneul’s cheeks deepened in color, but he smiled back, captivated by Jihoon’s gaze.

“I think… I want you to be,” Haneul replied, his voice barely audible.

Jihoon’s smile widened, his eyes shining with affection.

“It’s already a given,” Jihoon whispered.

As the evening drew to a close, their connection deepened, forging an unspoken understanding between them.

The time for Jihoon to leave approached, and Haneul’s heart felt a pang of sadness.

Noticing Jihoon’s worn clothes on the chair, Haneul offered, “I have some clothes that may suit your size, Mr. Kim. Wear them. ”

Jihoon smiled gratefully as Haneul handed him a spare shirt and pants.

As Jihoon changed, Haneul’s eyes roamed over his newly clad form, admiring the fit.

Jihoon’s gaze lingered on Haneul’s face, reluctant to leave.

“I have to go,” Jihoon whispered, his voice tinged with regret.

Haneul nodded, understanding.

“Take care of yourself,” Jihoon said, his eyes locked on Haneul’s.

“I will,” Haneul replied, smiling softly.

“Any plans tomorrow?” Jihoon asked, his voice hesitant to break the spell.

“School,” Haneul said, “I have classes. Monday’s on my schedule.”

Jihoon nodded, concern etched on his face.

“Should I take you home after your classes?” Jihoon offered. “I’ll be finishing early at the office tomorrow, working with Director Lee.”

“Do you have any other plans after class?” Jihoon asked, wanting to ensure their day together.

Haneul shook his head, “No, just heading home.”

Jihoon’s eyes softened, relieved.

“I’ll pick you up then,” Jihoon said, smiling. “What time do you finish?”

Haneul thought for a moment, “Around 4 pm.”

Jihoon nodded, committing the time to memory.

“I’ll be there, text me the address,” Jihoon promised.

Their eyes met, and Haneul’s heart fluttered at the warmth in Jihoon’s gaze.

Haneul walked Jihoon to the door, the evening air enveloping them.

As they stood on the threshold, Haneul’s heart swelled with emotion.

“Bye,” Jihoon whispered, his eyes locked on Haneul’s.

Haneul’s lips parted, hesitating, longing for a goodbye kiss. Jihoon’s gaze softened, sensing Haneul’s unspoken desire.

He gently lifted Haneul’s chin, his fingers brushing against Haneul’s skin. Their lips met in a tender kiss, Jihoon’s warmth enveloping Haneul.

“You don’t need to be so shy and hesitate like that just now,” Jihoon whispered, his breath caressing Haneul’s skin.

“I’d love it if you’d be comfortable with me.”

Haneul’s cheeks deepened in color, his eyes dropping, but a small smile played on his lips.

“I-I’ll try,” Haneul stammered, his voice barely audible.

Jihoon’s fingers traced Haneul’s jaw, his touch soothing.

“Then, see you tomorrow,” Jihoon whispered, smiling.

Haneul nodded, his eyes shining with affection.

With a final glance, Jihoon turned and walked away, disappearing into the night.

Haneul’s heart remained, suspended in the gentle kiss they shared.

Day passed…

Haneul sat in class, scribbling notes as his professor lectured. His mind wandered, recalling Jihoon’s tender kiss and reassuring words.

Between classes, Haneul headed to the school’s photography club, camera in hand. He captured the vibrant campus life, lost in the art. The click of the shutter, the play of light, and the stories unfolding before his lens mesmerized him.

As he developed his photos in the darkroom, Haneul’s creativity flourished. He experimented with techniques, coaxing beauty from everyday moments.

Meanwhile, Jihoon worked alongside Director Lee, finalizing the exhibition’s layout. His planner’s mind ensured every detail was perfect.

“Jihoon, what do you think of this arrangement?” Director Lee asked.

Jihoon scrutinized the space, “I think we can improve the flow. Let’s reposition this section.”

Director Lee’s eyes sparkled, “Jihoon, this exhibition will showcase Korea’s vibrant culture. I want it to be unforgettable.”

Jihoon nodded, understanding the vision.

“To achieve that, we need to highlight traditional and modern elements,” Director Lee continued. “I want you to collaborate with the design team and create an immersive experience.”

Jihoon’s planner's mind kicked in, “I’ll ensure seamless integration of art, music, and technology, Director.”

Director Lee leaned back in his chair, a hint of amusement on his face. “Aish, I told you to just call me by my name if it’s just us here.”

Jihoon stood straight, his expression unwavering. “I told you I can’t do that, we’re still in your office. Please keep your appearance as you are the Director here.”

Director Lee chuckled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. “Oh, come on! I was your friend too, even before I became the Director. Why are you being stubborn?”

As Jihoon chatted with Director Lee, his phone buzzed. “Haneul’s waiting,” the reminder read.

Jihoon smiled, finishing his task. “Director, may I go now? I’ve completed today’s work.”

Director Lee, noticing Jihoon’s reaction to his phone, raised an eyebrow. “Very well, you may go.”

He headed out to pick up Haneul, eager to hear about his day.

Meanwhile, Haneul finished his classes and packed up his camera gear. He couldn’t wait to share his new photos with Jihoon.

Haneul sat outside the school, camera slung over his shoulder, lost in thought.

Jihoon arrived at the school, parking his car alongside the curb. He spotted Haneul outside, lost in thought, camera slung over his shoulder. Jihoon’s heart skipped a beat as he gazed at Haneul’s serene expression.

He stepped out of the car, closing the door behind him. “Haneul, let’s get in,” Jihoon said, gesturing to the passenger seat.

Haneul nodded, walking towards the car. They exchanged a warm smile as Haneul settled into the seat.

Jihoon slid into the driver’s seat, starting the engine. “How was your day?”

“Good. I got some great shots,” Haneul replied, eyes sparkling.

Jihoon’s curiosity piqued, “Let’s see.”

Haneul handed over his camera, and Jihoon connected it to his car’s screen.

As they scrolled through the photos, Jihoon’s eyes widened in awe. “These are incredible, Haneul.”

Haneul’s cheeks flushed, pleased.

“The lighting in this one is stunning,” Jihoon said, zooming in on a particular photo.

Haneul leaned in, pointing out details. “I was experimenting with angles…”

“I love how you captured the campus life,” Jihoon said, swiping through the photos.

“Thanks, Mr. Kim, I tried to show the beauty in everyday moments,” Haneul replied, smiling.

“This one’s my favorite,” Jihoon said, pausing at a photo of a sunset behind the school’s buildings.

Haneul nodded, “Mine too. I was lucky to catch the perfect light.”

Their heads bent together, admiring the photos, the warmth of the evening enveloped them.

“I’m glad I get to see your creative side,” Jihoon whispered, his voice filled with affection.

Haneul’s cheeks flushed, “I’m glad you like it.”

Jihoon’s eyes met Haneul’s, and a gentle smile shared between them.

“Where would you like to go now?” Jihoon asked, starting the car.

Haneul thought for a moment, “Somewhere with a nice view?”

Jihoon nodded, “I know just the place.”

He drove them to a secluded spot overlooking the city skyline. The sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm orange glow.

As they stepped out of the car, Haneul’s eyes widened. “Wow, this is beautiful.”

Jihoon smiled, pleased. “I’m glad you like it.”

They stood side by side, watching the stars begin to twinkle. Jihoon took Haneul’s hand, his fingers intertwining with Haneul’s.

Haneul's gaze drifted to their entwined hands, his cheeks blooming with a soft blush at Jihoon's gentle touch.

“We will be spending time like this a lot from now on,” Jihoon whispered.

Haneul’s heart fluttered, smiling brightly.
“Mm, I look forward to it then.”

The city lights sparkled below, a magical backdrop for their quiet moment.

“I have an idea,” Jihoon said, his eyes sparkling.

“What is it?” Haneul asked, curious.

“Let’s take a photo together, here,”

Haneul’s face lit up. “I’d love that.”

Haneul handed Jihoon his camera, and they posed together, hands still entwined.

As the shutter clicked, capturing their moment, Haneul knew this was a memory he’d treasure forever.

The stars shone brightly above, a celestial witness to their love.

And with that, the busy day came to a serene close, filling their hearts with joy and anticipation for tomorrow.
