We live in a world where everyone is greedy. Some of us are greedy for love, some for success, some for a normal life, and Jiya Khanna was just greedy for one thing and just one thing alone-fame.
What is fame? When it’s all said and done, it’s just a way of being heard and being someone good enough to be heard, and while it looks like Jiya just wanted to be someone important and wants the power of being someone who is important, maybe she just wanted to be heard, and that’s why she was used to throwing this extravagant parties for no particular reason inviting all the important people into her home may seem like a way of showing off her wealth and all the glitz and glamour that comes with being a celebrity, but maybe it was just her way of not being alone during the holidays either way it was this party that started of the glittering courtship between Rayan and Aliza.

Jiya Khanna’s parties were something out of a nightmare for Aliza it was a bunch of rich people flaunting their wealth and bragging about all the horrible things they did for PR as achievements, while Jiya clung to her like a koala bear just for pictures and clout, like standing in the middle of a group of people in a shimmering Indian outfit and not having anything to contribute to this conversation wasn’t bad enough to make things worse now her Ex boyfriend walked in holding the waist of her ex best friend who he cheated on her with.
“Oh my god did you invite her?” Aliza asked Jiya.
“Actually, I don’t even know half the people here. I just had my manager invite people based on their Instagram followers” Jiya said.
Aliza looked at Jiya confused as she walked out onto the balcony just to get some fresh air as I stepped outside. I took a deep breath, but before I could relax, I heard footsteps approaching, and I was in no mood for making any more small talk, so I took out my phone and pretended to be on a call. I mentally kicked myself as I saw the person who walked in was Rayan. He politely smiled at me as he fished out his own phone and got on a call. While I was struggling to keep up my act of being on a call, I heard a voice.
“What are you guys doing?” It was Rosie. She was also a new actress who worked in the industry. “There is no network out here you can’t make a call”, she continued. I and Rayan looked at each other confused and shocked, because we both had been pretending to be on a call. We burst out laughing, looking at each other and Rosie joined in without even knowing the context before she stepped away, leaving us alone with each other.
"And I thought I was the only one who had the habit of fake calling" Rayan said.
“Just to be clear, I wasn’t avoiding you; I mean I was avoiding you technically, but I didn’t know it was you when I started avoiding you”, Aliza said.
“You look great” Rayan said, completely avoiding everything she just said. “Do you always just wear white?” Aliza’s brain just went blank trying to process Rayan’s words.
“No, I am just going through a white phrase.”
“Oh, that makes sense because all the times I met you, you were wearing white.”
“And you were wearing black even now you are.”
He looked down at his kurta and said “It suits me”.
“And white suits me” she said.
“I can see that…….so who are you trying to avoid by hiding out here?”
“Almost everybody, but especially my ex-boyfriend who came in here with the girl who he cheated on me with, and who, as it turns out, used to be my best friend”
“Yikes! That doesn’t sound good.”
“Speaking of……. I heard what happened between you and your girlfriend, and I am really sorry for my involvement in it.”
“Don’t worry about it, we weren’t working for a long time and I guess we just needed an excuse to end it and all the media drama was just what we needed.”
“Huh, in that case you are welcome” Aliza joked. Rayan chuckled.
“Oh my god they are coming this way, I do not want to look like a pathetic mess, I want to win this breakup” Aliza said, looking at her ex and his new girlfriend headed this way.
“Want my help with that? I am a pretty good actor, if our critics are to be believed”, Rayan said.
“There is one thing you can do for me”, Aliza said.
They both knew what they had to do. He put her hands around her waist, pulled her closer, she wrapped her hands around his neck as they closed the gap between them and their lips met, their eyes were closed, they were at a party under a moonlight. It was the perfect kiss with all the romantic clichés wrapped up into one.
