"But now that you're here, we can pile everything on you!" is actually a surprisingly common sentiment in a lot of places.
And don't get me wrong - it can be fun! Personally, I'm the kind of oddball who loves to come to a place where nothing is quite yet ready and done, roll up my sleeves and get to work in tidying the trash fire. You get a sense of accomplishment from those kind of places.
I also fully get those aren't everyone's favourites.
