Alec
Alec settled back at his desk in his office, a room on the second floor directly off the stairwell that leads to the kitchen. He had decided on the room so that he could be close to the kitchen without being close enough to be constantly berated by hungry cats. It didn’t work very well since the cats would find him regardless, but at least the office had a door to keep them out if needed.
Alec reclined in his chair as he planted his feet up on his desk, he was getting all comfy when the door suddenly creaked open. Alec froze, hand clenched around his phone as he feared the worst and prepared to speed dial the police. But there was no one behind the door, Alec groaned.
“I swear, if this is more supernatural stuff that is going to terrify me..” Alec grimaced and stood up, hearing a bell as the door opened further. A gray furred, orange eyed cat suddenly darted in, purring up a storm. It was Cyclone, one of the only cats in the manor that could open doors at will. Alec smiled, extremely happy that his sanity wouldn’t be threatened again today.
Or at least, that’s what he’d hoped for up until when Jade walked into his office behind Cyclone. Her bright green eyes glimmered happily as she trotted up onto Alec’s desk, she immediately started tapping at his hand with her paw.
She was a very polite cat in need of head rubs. Alec chuckled and sat back down, scratching under Jade’s chin as she quietly purred. He halted as he noticed something around her neck; a piece of paper hung from the green collar she wore. Alec grimaced, he was not one for mysterious books or movies, let alone reality.
The note introduced him to “Valorie”, a being that seemed to believe it was harmless. It portrayed itself as an artist who wished to stay in contact with him. Alec was very confused by the whole situation, was Ross not the ghost in his house? Was it actually still Ross but it was lying and changed its identity at will to help it murder people?
Alec rubbed his temples, sighing heavily as he stared at the creased note that lay on his desk. He had no intention to play with something that could’ve gotten Eveline killed. Alec was the type of person to play it safe for these kinds of things, he would never jump into imminent danger head first.
Alec eventually decided to write back because, despite his fear, it was interesting and he hated the anxiety it would give him to not respond back.
“Are you a ghost? Did you kill Eveline?” He decided to make it short and simple, asking the questions that he wanted answers to, despite not knowing if the being on the other side would simply lie.
Alec walked into the kitchen looking around for cats because Jade had decided to take a nap on the mail on his desk. He glanced around, suddenly realizing that he wasn’t sure how to convince one of the cats to take his note. Nor did he understand where the cats went to deliver it or how the possible specter was able to write physical notes to tie to the cats.
Was it actually all just a strange fever dream? He asked himself doubtfully, checking his forehead with the back of his hand. Alec groaned and sank to the floor against one of the walls in the kitchen, this was all too much for him. He was someone who just wanted to live a mundane life.
A kitten climbed up his arm onto his shoulder and started peacefully chewing his hair. Alec simply sat there, letting the kitten litter his hair with more split ends.
