DONOVAN
“Donny.” I heard someone lovingly call my name. The voice was so soft it made my heart flutter. “Wake up, Donny.”
Per their request, I opened my eyes and smiled at the person beside me. Piper, my mate was there, looking at me with a soft smile. He looked as beautiful as always. He leaned in and left a soft kiss on my lips that sent shivers all over my body. I returned his kiss in a more passionate way bringing him closer to me, making our bodies touch. I broke apart from the kiss and looked into his eyes.
“Good morning, Donny,” Piper said with a soft smile and then giggled. “You are so energetic today.”
“Yes, but I want to stay here with you in bed,” I said hiding my face in his neck taking in all his scent.
“Well, it’s Saturday” Piper said while caressing my hair. “And you don’t have work but—”
A knock came from the door interrupting my mate’s words and it suddenly opened, I turned to look at who was disrespecting our time together but saw no one. Suddenly I felt something jump on the bed, I looked at the end of the bed and saw a small white head and then a face. It was a kid with both my hair and eyes but his facial features and skin were just like Pipers.
“Daddy! Daddy! You have to get up!” He said hurriedly as he crawled closer to us and pulled our duvet away.
“See? We can’t stay in bed.” Piper giggled, leaving a soft kiss on my cheek, and turned away from me, leaving the bed. My attention going back to the kid. My son. The son I had with Piper. Quinn, our little eagle.
“Daddy! Hurry hurry!” He said pulling my pajamas lightly trying to get me to get up but I was confused as to why.
“Why are you in such a hurry, kiddo?” I asked confused, sitting up in bed.
“Because you promised to practice flying with me today.” He said excited.
“I did?” I said confused. I couldn’t remember.
“Yes, you did. You promised.” He said still with a pout on his lips and something clicked in me.
“Yes, you are right. I did.” I said with a soft smile caressing his hair. “Guess we have to get ready.”
“Yes, let’s go to the training grounds.” Our son said with a smile and jumped on the bed excited.
“Nu-uh. First, you have to eat breakfast,” Piper said coming back to us on the bed, he was holding something in his arms and sat down on the bed next to me. “Then you can go to the training grounds.”
“But Papa!” Quinn said pouting once again and sitting cross-armed on the bed.
“But nothing, you need strength to fly, dear.” I peeked to see what he was holding. A baby. It was a baby. Yes, our daughter. Maeve, our little snake. “So food goes first.”
“Fine! Food first and then training.” Our son said and laid back on the bed defeated.
I held back from laughing to not offend him even more and turned to look at Piper who was breastfeeding our baby. He looked up at me and smiled, I leaned in and left a soft kiss on his lips.
“Ew! No kisses.” Quinn said with disgust making Piper and I laugh.
“Can you get ahead and shower with him? Maeve is going to be eating for a bit.” Piper asked with a soft smile and I nodded giving him another kiss but this time on his forehead.
I got out of bed and carried Quinn in my arms, he didn’t struggle and just went with it. After a fun bath and having a bubble fight with my son, we got ready for the day and went down to the dining room. Piper was already waiting for us to eat breakfast, while little Maeve was in her stroller taking a nap. Breakfast went smoothly and I felt complete just watching my mate and my kids. My family. I was lucky to have them.
Immediately after we finished eating, Quinn again rushed us off to the training ground and I just followed along, Piper close behind us while pushing Maeve's stroller. I never in my life imagined I would get to practice flying with my own son, but here I am. Luckily Quinn was a very smart and talented kid so he learned quickly. Taking in all my words of advice and after getting permission from Piper, we went on a flight together. Flying around with my son felt like a dream, but it also felt real. Returning from our flight, Piper surprised us with a picnic basket so we went by the lake to eat. We even took some time to play in the water for a bit and when it was starting to get late and chilly outside we went back home.
Dinner was already waiting for us so after a shower to wash off the lake water out from us, we ate together as a family once again. Quinn yawned as he was starting to drift away, he must be tired from all the fun we had today. Piper noticed that and gave me a look, I nodded, standing and taking our son in my arms. I walked up the stairs and the way to Quinn’s room but he shook his head.
“I want to sleep with Daddy and Papa.” He said with a tired voice and I nodded. He was adorable.
“Okay, you can sleep with us,” I said with a soft smile.
Upon walking into the room, Piper was standing next to a baby crib, he left a soft kiss on Maeve’s head and placed her down carefully. I smiled, my heart full and warm at the sight. I did the same to Quinn placing him in our bed, and he was fighting to be awake, his eyelids almost closing but then opening back again.
“It’s okay, kiddo. You can sleep.” I caressed his hair but he shook his head.
“I want Papa…” He said yawning again and Piper heard him so he was soon with him on the bed, caressing his hair until our son decided to finally close his eyes. I gave a soft kiss to Piper and went to put on some pajamas.
“Donovan.” I heard someone call my name. “Donovan.” A familiar voice was calling from the other side of our bedroom the door. I felt the need to follow it, but I didn’t want to leave my family behind.
“Donny? What’s wrong?” Piper said with a soft smile looking at me from the bed where Quinn and Maeve were also lying.
“Nothing. I thought I heard something.” I said giving him a soft smile but still feeling uneasy about that voice.
“Well, come here. It’s time to sleep.” Piper said with a smile patting the space next to our son for me to lay down. I wanted to go to him, but I also wanted to investigate that voice.
“Donovan.” It called me again and I just went for it. Opening the door, a light blinded me and made me close my eyes. And when I opened them again I saw a ceiling, I felt strange. I recognized my room but how had I gotten here? I turned to look around and saw someone looking at me. Piper. He looked at me in shock and then tears started to go down his face.
“You are awake…you are finally awake.”
