Laen carried Sydia into the house. I went inside right after them. Ethen was already standing in the entrance. The red-haired man carried Sydia to the room, and I was left alone with the suspicious guy.
He started brewing tea. He must have forgotten about how he had been asking me about unusual things a moment ago.
He finished pouring water into the cup and grabbed it. He poured boiling water with herbs into two cups.
He leaned against the counter and asked.
"What happened to Sydia?"
He could ask Laen, not me. He was the one who carried her all the way here.
"She froze in the frost."
"Hmph." He mumbled.
He grabbed the other cup in his hand.
"Go, bring her this."
He handed the cup to me.
"Are you sure I can go into her room like this? We haven't known each other for so long."
"Just go."
I was holding the tea tightly in both hands. It was hot and warmed my hands pleasantly. I toddled to the room where Laen had gone with it.
I stood in front of the door to that room and slowly opened it.
I noticed Sydia lying in bed, wrapped in a blanket. Laen was sitting next to her on the edge of the bed.
"Am I interrupting?" I asked quietly.
The girl opened her eyes and looked at me.
"No, come in."
"Ethen told me to give you this tea."
I put the cup on the dresser next to the bed.
"I have a question." I said.
"Hmph, What it is?" Sydia hummed.
"How did the weather affect you so strongly? A person would freeze in a snowstorm like that, but he wouldn't faint from adrenaline. We were warmly dressed, so eve..." I didn't finish, because I felt that I was asking the wrong question.
Sydia and Laen looked at each other for a moment. They were probably wondering if they wanted to tell me something.
"I'm sorry, I should have chosen my words more carefully." I lowered my head down.
Sydia stood up slightly from the lying position and was now sitting in the bed. She wanted to reach the tea with one of her hands. The red-haired man saw that she couldn't reach it, so he simply handed her the cup.
The girl was holding the cup tightly and staring at the tea.
It was a moment of silence, to think about the right words.
"I'm sorry." She replied, with sadness on her face and looking at the tea.
"When I was younger, I lived in different weather conditions. Where I lived as a child, it was always warm. Now was the first time I saw snow." She spoke quietly.
She smiled slightly and continued.
"I'm not human, and my species is not adapted to this kind of weather."
Just as I thought.
I grabbed my head with my head. I wasn't sure what to answer.
"So who are you if not a human?" I asked, embarrassed.
"I'm an elf." She answered immediately.
True. When I first met her, I noticed that she wasn't human. She has ears like an elf, but she covers them. I wonder how she does it since she doesn't wear a hat.
"They don't let non-humans into the capital. If you look different than a human, you're banned." Laen added from his own side.
"If you have anything to do with the Beast, they take you for a possessed creature and get rid of you."
I already know something about that.
"Why is that?" I asked.
Laen took a breath.
"As you probably already know, the two largest continents in this world are in conflict. Limervan, where we are, and Ephzental. Limervan has never liked Ephzental. For over 10 years, there's been a war on their border."
"To Ephzental, everyone is allowed in, regardless of who you are. Over 80% of the inhabitants are not even humans."
"And what does that have to do with not letting non-humans in here?"
"Mainly because a person who is non-human is most likely from Ephzental. That means they are illegal immigrants." He added.
"I didn't know there was a war. We live normally, and our houses aren't bombed." I said.
"You really don't know much about the world." He said.
How should I know? I've been on this planet for two weeks.
"Hmm... Why are the continents in conflict? You haven't given any argument yet."
Laen grabbed his chin with his hand.
"Ephzental doesn't have a capital or other cities. The entire area bears that name. The problem is in....." He took a breath." ...the ruler of Ephzental."
"What did that person do?"
"What I'm telling you now, no civilian knows, nor any of the knights. Only the three of us know this on the entire planet."
"I understand, and I don't have anyone to tell anyway."
"Ethen's research shows that this planet was attacked by rulers from other planets and universes..." He began.
The world can be divided into "two hemispheres of the same planet". The first is ordinary people living on planets.
And what about the second part?
Some beings in the universe do not have their own place, so they live with people on the same planet. There would be no problem with that, but a being with the power of God among mortals? Fortunately, no one in society knows about "these beings", so they live in peace, and these beings do not reveal their identity. Sometimes, however, this can involve serious problems.
Lytia, woke up in the "forest of the Beasts". She does not remember anything from her adventure so far, but she knows one thing, that she has lost her magic and must regain it. She only remembers the man with white hair who brought her to this place. Why did he decide to leave her completely alone in such a place?
