Hey, I've read the comic, and I really like it! I, as an artist myself, shares many of Alice's sentiments against AI. Like Alice, I also want my comics to get attention despite my amateurish drawing skill. My art gradually improved over time since 2022 through trials and errors, so it frustrates me a lot after seeing generative AI become mainstream. Learning to draw has taught me as to how difficult it is to actually draw something as accurate as the picture you have in mind, and it made me appreciate artists who have skilled that ability. I find generative AI bad not just because it's soulless and unethical, but because it degrade the value of art. "Why spend so much time and energy over a piece that can be easily generated in just mere seconds?" This line of thinking will ruin people's appreciation of art. I find it cute that Alice tries to co-exist with the concept of generative art, but to be honest, I disagree with her thinking. AI has done a lot of damage and pollution to earth because its data centers requires massive power and cooling to run the technology, so I don't see myself using AI at all for my art for the rest of my life. That's all I have to say. I would love to see more comics from you, especially the ones based on your personal perspective!
Alice lives and breathes art. She's not talented at all, but she's as passionate as can be, and she dreams of connecting with others and receiving recognition. But things aren't so simple in the modern day. Alice has an alter ego--a spirit from the shadow realm, who can generate perfect images at the blink of an eye. And this spirit is destroying her hopes, her passion, even her sense of self...all under an innocent desire to help. Will Alice be able to reach an understanding with her alter ego, or will her dreams as an artist be ruined forever?
A fantasy-based reinterpretation of the current AI art debate, by 17-year-old author Carina Wang. Physical copies available on Amazon!
