“Rhys, are you ready?” Theo asked.
“As much as I can be.” Said Rhys.
“Remember, you only have an hour before the rift closes and you’re stuck.” Said Theo.
“Then I’ll make sure to be quick about it.” Rhys said.
In a lab below the Hero Society, Theo and Rhys stood before an unusual rift that Rhys opened with every ounce of his power. It was different from his usual rifts that allowed him to move from space to space. The rift before them opened a gateway to another universe: Tekashi’s world. However, he made sure that it would take him to a time when the magical book now held by Draven was first created.
“Good luck, my friend.” Theo said.
Rhys walked through and found himself in a strange world. The sky seemed more vibrant, the surroundings held more vegetation, and not too far off was a town where people came and went using magic and magical items. Rhys strolled into town and began to look around for anything that could lead him in the right direction.
“Excuse me, sir. I’m looking for a book. Could you direct me to the school of magic?” Asked Rhys.
A bystander looked a him and pointed to a building across the way. Rhys thanked him and he made his way there and went inside. It was a small school that only had a few classrooms of children and a couple of instructors.
A man approached him and said “Greetings. Welcome to the Kyomagi Learning Center. We teach all the art of magic and the use of magical items. Is there something I can help you with?”
“I am looking for a certain book.” Rhys said.
“Well, I’m sure our library has just the book for you. We have all sorts of wonderful literature for anyone to use so feel free to take a look for yourself.” The man said.
“I’m looking for this book.” Said Rhys as he held up a picture of the ornate magical book that Draven has.
The man paused as he looked at it intently.
“How have you come to know this?” He asked solemnly.
“If I were to explain it all to you it wouldn’t make sense. Now, I need you to tell me where I can find that book.” Rhys said.
“Sir, that is my book. The first and only of its kind. However, I’ve made a mistake. It’s much too powerful for any man to wield. I plan to seal it in a magical orb in order to keep the wrong hands from taking it.” Explained the man.
“I understand. But where I come from, that book is causing trouble and we need to stop it.” Said Rhys.
“Oh, dear. That does sound like it would take a lot of explaining. Follow me.” The man said.
He led Rhys to a secluded place in the school and opened a secret passage that led to a room of various trinkets, potions, and books scattered everywhere. Upon a table, sat the book.
The man walked over and opened the book to a blank page at the back and spoke a magical language under his breath. As he finished speaking, the page slowly began to reveal words and images.
“There is a failsafe of sorts that can destroy the book. Only a magic user of the strongest magnitude could cast it, however.” Said the man.
“If you’d allow me to take the book, I swear to you I would return it to you so you can still seal it away as yo intend.” Said Rhys.
“I mean to offense but can I really trust you?” the man said.
“May I ask your name?” Asked Rhys.
“Why, I am Professor Winx.” The man said.
“I see. Do you have any family?” Rhys said.
Well, I don’t see why this matters but yes I do. My wife, my son, my son’s wife, and my soon-to-be grandson.” Winx said.
Rhys put a hand on his shoulder and said “Your grandson’s name is going to Drinx, isn’t it?”
Winx was stunned for a moment.
“Why, yes. That is precisely what my son wants to name him.” Winx said wide-eyed.
“Your family trusted me. I now ask you to do the same.” Rhys said.
Winx turned around and picked up the book and gave it to Rhys.
“Please, return it to me.” Winx said.
“Without delay.” Rhys said before leaving and walking back to the rift that he came through.
As the rift grew smaller he passed through it and promptly closed it. As he turned around, Theo was there waiting for him.
“It looks like you got it.” Said Theo.
“Yes. And I know how we can stop Draven.” Rhys said.
He explained to Theo about the magical failsafe at the back of the book and that he promised to return the book.
“Alright. I’m sure you’ll be able to do what needs to be done.” Theo said.
Meanwhile…
“Fellow sorcerers. The time is upon us. This city will be ours and there’s nothing anyone can do to stop us. The Magicate will rule with an iron fist and anyone who stands in our way will be eliminated and become an example for all those who dare to think they can oppose us.” Draven said as he addressed many sorcerers gathered on the Isle of Magic.
Sorcerers cheered and they began to disperse all around the city causing destruction and chaos wherever they went.
“Uh oh. We’ve got bad news. It looks like Draven is pulling an all-out attack and there are countless reports all over the city.” Gen said.
“Sir, should I make the call?” Lavanite asked.
Jeff took a deep sigh and said “Do it.”
Lavanite opened all communication channels and said “Attention all heroes. We have a major class situation. We need every able-bodied hero to protect the city as we have countless reports of sorcerers everywhere causing trouble. This is the big fight we’ve been anticipating. Use everything you’ve got.”
Many heroes began to spread through the city and confront the sorcerers as Mark and Ben hacked into security and traffic cameras to get eyes on as many areas as possible.
As Theo sat at his desk, he heard Lauren over the comms say “Sir, Jeff has informed me that the battle has started. Draven is making his move.”
Theo looked at Rhys and said “It’s time. We’re gonna need some backup.”
Rhys nodded and opened a rift. After a moment, a figure walked through and brushed off their suit.
“I was preparing dinner you know. I’m going to kill you if my chicken is ruined when I get back.” Kate said as she smiled at Theo.
“Alright. I’ll buy you more chicken if it’s ruined.” Theo said.
Just then, there was a knock on the door and Tekashi entered the office.
“You better have a good plan this time.” Tekashi said.
“Sure do.” Theo said as he gestured to the book.
“What? But how?” Said Tekashi.
“I used my abilities to create a rift to your universe. A wise professor allowed me to borrow it.” Said Rhys.
“Well then let’s finish this.” Tekashi said.
