After leaving the classroom, we head to the wall signs and check in which class we are. I’m in 1°A with Nick and someone else I saw on the side.
I take out the map in my pocket and notice that the classroom is at the end of the hall. Once I get there, I open the door and start looking around. I look at the back row and find Azel sitting by the window. I had yet to notice if there was on the list... I consider, guilty enough.
Nick and I sit down in front of him and start talking.
"Good thing we’re in the same class!" exclaims Nick, relieved.
"I’m happy, too" I reply cheerfully.
"What did you do during the holidays?" he asks curiously.
"I went on holiday with my parents and met two strange guys"
"You made an impression, huh?" he says with a mischievous look.
"No! What do you say!? You?" I answer embarrassed by his blunt question.
"I got engaged this summer!" he exclaims with cheeks that take on a reddish colour.
"Really?! With whom?" I ask, intrigued by his statement.
"A boy named Ice" he responds with his cheeks burning. It’s amazing how emotional he gets when we talk about these things. However, the name of the boy seems very familiar to me... I think, trying to remember where I had already heard about it.
"Love, I’m behind you!" exclaims an amusing voice. We both turn and I start to look at the boy's physique. He has an indifferent air, black hair and blue eyes like ice. His body is a little muscular. From the tone of his voice, he doesn’t seem to be one of those who would intentionally hurt you. If I get to know him maybe I’ll get along with him. Wait... This guy looks very familiar to me... That's right!? I’ve seen him in a photo before, but I don’t remember very well which one... I think.
"H-hi!" Nick says stammering and I can’t understand his reaction. "Why are you near Azel?" he asks the other boy.
"Because he’s my best friend!" he says smiling.
"Good morning boys" announces a voice. We turn and notice the teacher in front of the blackboard. Our classmates sit down and we begin to listen to the lesson.
"Who was the guy from before?" I ask, drawing his attention.
"Ice" he replies in return and then I understand everything.
"Well, congratulations!" I exclaimed, throwing an elbow at him.
"Not now! Later, I’ll explain it all to you" he says blushing as I try to hold back the laughter.
"I can’t wait!" I reply enthusiastically.
Professor Angel is an art teacher. As her first task, she asks us to draw the first thing that comes into our mind or inspires us most. I’m not very good, but I try to get by anyway. I open the book and start to recreate some writing. Instead, Nick tries to draw a lion, but I see him in trouble since he has already thrown away ten sheets.
At the end of the two hours, I find myself with too much nonsense writing and ghoulish, but it doesn’t seem the others have done much too. We deliver everything to Miss Angel and wait for the next teacher.
"Excuse me! I forgot to hand it over" exclaims Azel giving a piece of paper in the hand of the Prof. I take a glimpse and it's singular as drawing if not absurd: a wolf that comes out of a leaf that, at the same time, comes out of a hand. It may have been strange, but it was truly well done.
"Good morning!" exclaims a gentleman at the edge of the door. After she sees him, Miss Angel leaves the classroom and makes room for the new teacher. In the meantime, we return to our seats and follow the Italian lesson. Now and then, I look at Azel and think I desire to ask him the meaning of his drawing.
After the lessons, we eat and rest since the magic will start tomorrow. Nick tells me how he met Ice and I enjoy listening to him mostly because it’s easy to embarrass him. After that, we go around the school and search the various rooms so it will be easier to move during the year. Finally, we check the location of the dormitories and, this time, we are not in a room together. I’m a bit sorry about this, but at least I’ll make new friends.
Time flies and, after dinner, we head to our rooms. I say goodbye and goodnight to Nick. After about ten minutes, I arrive in front of a door with the number 213 written on it. I take out the key and enter.
"Eh?" is the only thing I can say when I realize who’s lying on the bed reading a book. For a moment my heart stopped and now it started to beat faster than before. What should I do?!! He turns back and looks at me with curiosity without saying a word.
"Are you my roommate?" I ask in one breath.
"Yes, why? You have a problem?!" he says with condescension, coming to me. How come I ended up in the room with Azel?! I didn’t want to be with him any longer than I should! "Then Yuma or whatever your name is. There are three simple rules to follow in this room! The first: do not touch my things for any reason!"
I stare at him undeterred without a word. But is this guy serious?
"The second: do not bother me and do not make me nervous" he replies approaching again. "And finally: respect my spaces. If you stick to these simple rules you won’t even notice that I'm here" he says then sits on the bed and starts reading the book. After his rant, I begin arranging my things trying to ignore his words that reverberate on my head like blades of fire. When he approached me, I felt so many shivers crossing my body like I had a fever. I think it will get worse and worse...
And here we are with the third chapter!
