In the morning, the sun rose and stood high over the skyscrapers of Bytari. Warm rays of light touched every building. One of them entered the windows of the bus, waking up the Braw Agents. Narvy slipped out of bed and got ready for the day, or at least attempted to. His waistcoat was scrunched up after sleeping in it, but he kept it on as it was the only thing he had to wear. Fortunately, he kept a toothbrush in the bathroom, so he didn’t have to talk to the guards with bad breath. “Right, I’m going to the venue now,” announced Narvy. “Bye, good luck finding information,” replied Bobby.
Narvy left the bus and headed to the venue. They were parked very close, so it didn’t take long for him to reach his destination. When he got to the doors, he noticed that there were no signs reading ‘Closed’, ‘Out of order’, or anything along those lines. However, he was prepared for the possibility that the doors would be locked. To his delight, both sets of doors were unlocked, allowing Narvy to enter the venue.
When he got inside, he saw exactly what he expected to see. The owners of the venue were talking about the incident as they granted workmen access to the fourth floor. As they were speaking, Narvy decided to approach them. “Hi, can I go to the fourth floor?” he asked. “Yes, you may,” answered one of the owners. Narvy was surprised he gained permission so easily, but he was glad to have it. Without any hesitation, he raced to the fourth floor. Usually, he would have taken the elevator, but after yesterday’s incident, the stairs were the wiser option.
Once Narvy reached the fourth floor, he couldn’t help but notice something was off. There were plenty of workmen investigating the floor, but nothing appeared to be burnt. There wasn’t even any damage. Narvy grew even more curious about the incident, but he knew the workmen were very busy. Eventually, he found the confidence to approach a workman and ask about the situation.
“Found anything?” asked Narvy. “No, we’ve searched the entire floor, but we can’t find any evidence regarding how the fire started,” replied the workman. “In fact, we can’t find any evidence that a fire occurred in the first place,” he added. Narvy was intrigued by this statement. “How? Fires burn everything in their path an—” he asked before randomly cutting his sentence and going silent. “And what?” asked the workman. “The fire must have been faked somehow,” suggested Narvy. “That’s not a bad theory,” replied the workman. “Thanks. But why would anyone do something like this?” asked Narvy.
Just then, a security guard entered the room. He approached the workman like Narvy had, but without any stalling. “Excuse me, can I speak with you?” he asked. “Sure,” replied the workman. “We have some bad news. We investigated the computer room on this floor, and it appears some valuable files have been stolen,” explained the security guard. “How is that possible?” asked the workman. “That room’s always under high protection.” “We don’t know, that’s what we’re trying to figure out,” answered the security guard. Narvy stood silently and listened to the conversation unfold. As he heard more pieces of the story, he came to a conclusion.
“I think I know what happened,” stated Narvy, drawing the attention of the workman and the security guard. “Someone broke into the computer room and stole those files,” he explained. “That fire was just a distraction so whoever it was could steal valuable items and go unnoticed,” he added. Narvy’s theory was well-received by the workman and the security guard. “That seems very reasonable, I think you’re onto something,” replied the security guard. “Thanks,” replied Narvy. “Do you have any clues hinting to who could have caused this?” he asked. “Unfortunately, no. The mouse and keyboard didn’t have any fingerprints on them, and we couldn’t find anything else to use as evidence,” replied the security guard. The fingerprint-free computer only added to the mystery of this whole situation. But Narvy didn’t bother to ask questions about it since he most likely wouldn’t get answers.
“Right, well, I’m going now. Thanks for the conversation,” announced Narvy. “No problem,” replied the workman. “Hope you find answers soon,” commented Narvy as he began to walk away. After that quick exchange of words, Narvy slid down three flights of stairs and made it to the first floor. From there, he exited the venue and made his way back to the bus.
“How did it go?” asked Bobby. “It was very interesting,” answered Narvy. “The fire from last night wasn’t real, and some files were stolen from a high-security computer,” he added. “What do you mean the fire wasn’t real?” asked Edward. “It was faked. Someone must have pressed the fire alarm or something,” explained Narvy. “Do you know who did this?” asked Rita. “No, but the workmen at the venue are trying their best to find out,” replied Narvy. He turned to Oliver and Beth. “We’re ready to leave now,” he stated. “Alright, let’s get going,” replied Beth. She then got into the driver’s cab with Oliver. He took his position as the driver while Beth sat in the co-driver’s seat. Without any further stalling, the Braw Agents left the venue and embarked on a journey back to Fluvaria.
For the next hour, the bus drove past many hills and towns. It wasn’t as boring as it was last time since they had already made the journey and knew what to expect. However, the Braw Agents still wanted something to make the time pass. “Does anyone know where the TV remote is?” asked Hannah. “It’s in there,” answered Narvy, pointing to one of the desk drawers. “Thanks,” replied Hannah. She took the remote out of its small wooden home and pointed it at the TV. She pressed multiple buttons, hoping to find something good. Eventually, she pressed the button that activated the news channel.
“Breaking news: The Ball of Honour was disrupted by a fire last night, or so we thought,” stated the news reporter. “Guards and workmen investigated the venue today, but there was no evidence of a fire. Additionally, several files were stolen from a highly-protected computer in the venue,” he added. “That’s the sixth time this month valuable files have been stolen from a secure place,” he claimed. “We will provide more information as the story unfolds,” announced the news reporter.
Narvy pressed the remote and turned the TV screen off, the black screen now reflecting the interior of the bus. “Are you thinking what I’m thinking?” asked Narvy. “Yes, we should go out and bust this hacker,” replied Bobby. “Who’s with us?” he asked. Hannah, Edward, Rita, and Elsa all agreed with the idea. “That sounds like fun,” commented Rita. “Yeah, it does,” replied Hannah. After five quiet months, the Braw Agents finally had a new mission to attend to. Everyone planned on resting when they got home since they were all tired from the ball incident, but as soon as they had regained their energy, the Braw Agents were going to work on their new mission until they found the culprit.
After defeating the stone warriors, the Braw Agents have been invited to the prestigious Ball of Honour, a place filled with benevolent people, or so they think. During the event, a disaster breaks loose and reveals one of the guests to be a hacker. Can the Braw Agents unmask this secret crime lord?
