"Good morning Charlotte" Lucien said with a smile as he entered his sister's room.
Charlotte was sitting on the floor, holding up a hand mirror and examining her hair with quivering lips, at the sound of Lucien's voice her head whipped around as rage filled her eyes.
Charlotte chucked the mirror at Lucien, to which he simply tilted his head, letting it hit the wall, not flinching as it shattered.
"Get out!" Charlotte yelled, tears of anger welling up in her eyes once again as she began to tremble.
"Ah, are you still mad? I gave you a day to get over it" Lucien murmured in observation. In his life, he had to learn how to get over things quickly. After all, you eventually have to learn how to get used to bad things happening to you when it continuously happens.
He forgot for a moment, that most people don't get over things like this so easily.
"How can I get over this?! My hair is ruined..!" Charlotte shrieked, tears flowing down her chubby cheeks.
"I can fix it for you" Lucien offered with a smile.
"You're the one who ruined it! Why should I trust you?!" Charlotte sneered, looking at Lucien like he was some sort of villian.
"I think you're forgetting something, if I ate the breakfast you tampered with, I'd be dealing with a cut up throat, not hair...how cruel, I knew you hated me, but to try and murder your own brother?" Lucien said with a sigh, his smile turning cold as Charlotte flinched, her tears coming to a stop as she guiltily looked away.
"M-murder..? Don't be dramatic..." She muttered, playing with her fingers awkwardly.
"What? Do you really think swallowing blades wouldn't kill someone? I was really scared you know, I was crying harder than you, but yet I only cut your hair, which I'm offering to fix" Lucien stated, smiling as warmly as he could.
".....Can you really fix my hair?" Charlotte asked, her blue eyes shimmering as she looked over at him, her lips quivering.
"Yes, and if I'm lying, you can just go to father and get me in trouble anyways, why would I risk that?" Lucien asked, walking closer to his sister.
"Why would you even fix it?" Charlotte asked, narrowing her eyes in suspicion.
"Because, even though you've always hated me, I wanted to get close to you, you're my only sister, since you got me and I got back at you, can't we just call it even?" Lucien asked as he smiled.
"What..? I don't want to get close to you! You ruined our family..!" Charlotte said with a 'hmph', pouting her lips.
Lucien wasn't taken aback by her words, after all that's all she's been told, her words might've upset Lucien if it wasn't for the fact he needed her.
It didn't matter how she felt about him, she was a child at the end of the day, it would be easily to get past those feeling.
"Really? That's too bad" Lucien hummed, squatting down on the floor in front of Charlotte, his hand running through her hair as he examined it.
He didn't feel guilty about his actions, what she attempted would've been worse, so why would Lucien feel bad about this?
He pulled out scissors from his pocket, ignoring Charlotte's flinch, as he fixed up the front of her hair, giving her bangs.
Lucien stood up and took a few steps back, examining the results before giving a satisfied nod.
Seeing his nod, Charlotte immediately looked around for a mirror, forgetting she threw it at Lucien. He glanced behind him before picking up the largest shard of the discarded mirror and holding it up to his sister.
Charlotte shakily leaned in closer, scared to look into it, but once she saw her reflection her eyes widened.
While she let Lucien fix her hair she didn't expect it to turn out good, in fact, while she'd never admit it, she liked her current hairstyle more than her original one.
"Hmph... it's alright.." Charlotte mumbled, her eyes glued to the mirror as she moved her face around, trying to contain her smile.
"Really? I think it looks better than alright, but maybe it's just you making the bangs look better" Lucien chimed with a smile, trying to win more points with her, ignoring the prick of his fingers as the shard shard of the mirror dug into his skin as he held it up for her.
"Of course it is!" Charlotte responded with her chin up.
"I think bangs suit you, all the other noble little ladies will be racing to imitate you" He hummed. Lucien knew Charlotte liked competing with the other children from noble families. Despite the fact she was a princess and held the higher status, she wasn't the most influential amongst the younger nobles.
The one who set most of the trends amongst the children of high society was Vivienne Callisto, the daughter of the Grand Duke, what irritated Charlotte the most was the fact that she did everything so unintentionally.
Like when her ribbons became undone and tangled in her braid, she set the trend amongst children to intertwine ribbons in their braids as well.
Charlotte was a princess, she believed she should be the one to set all the trends and have everyone racing to follow after everything she does.
Lucien knew that even in the future Charlotte would lose to Vivienne when it comes to holding the most influence, but regardless he said what she wanted to hear.
"Really...? You think so?" Charlotte asked, her eyes wide as she stared at Lucien with hopeful eyes.
"Of course, no matter what Vivienne comes up with by the next ball it can't compare with this."Lucien stated with a nod, sounding as convincing as he could.
"Um.. I'm sorry for putting... blades into your food, Alexander said you'd notice before you ate it and wouldn't actually get hurt.." Charlotte murmured, her cheeks pink as she looked away, not able to look at Lucien as she apologized.
Lucien was actually taken aback, not only because he's never actually received a genuine apology, but because he didn't expect her out of all people to apologize, especially after he cut her hair just the other day. It seems he underestimated how innocent children were, this only pushed his plan ahead of schedule.
"It's okay, I'm sorry for cutting your hair too" Lucien said with a false tone of guilt lacing his voice. "Um, since we're not mad at each other anymore, can you find away for me to attend the festival?" Lucien asked, trying to sound innocent as he spoke.
Charlotte froze, looking at Lucien with a look of internal conflict, making Lucien wonder if he asked too early. After all she still didn't like him, he was the child that ruined the love her parents had, but looking at Lucien then down this hand that was still holding the mirror shard, which was now stained with his blood, she bit her lip before nodding.
"Okay but I don't think Charlie will like it" Charlotte said, she could just ask her father to let Lucien come but Charlie was a different story, he was taller and bigger than Lucien, Charlotte was worried he'd fight Lucien.
Until she froze, shaking her head, she was only paying back the favor for Lucien! She didn't care if he got hurt!
"Really..? Thank you so much.!!" Lucien said with wide eyes, his voice innocent and cheerful, making Charlotte flinch as she looked at him, never seeing him like this before.
She nodded and with that Lucien turned around, waving at her before he left, and this time, she waved back half heartedly.
His innocent smile turned into a cold one as his face was out of her view, he didn't expect his sister to be so idiotic?
If this was how she was, he'd have no problem dealing with Charlie, although that would have to wait for another day.
His plan was now in motion, he had to prepare for the festival that was going to happen in a few days.
After all, he wasn't just going for fun.
