After that unforgettable night at the bar and their first intimate moment as a couple, Lucas Amery and Sergio Edevane became inseparable. On second thought, they decided to move into a slightly larger apartment —a space where Sergio wouldn’t feel the anxiety that came with confined quarters, something Lucas had noticed even before he admitted it. It was a chance to create a life together in peace. For the custodian, it felt like an impossible dream, but his boyfriend reassured him that it was exactly what he wanted.  

One afternoon, while they were unpacking their belongings, the freckled man stumbled upon Lucas’s black notebook. Sitting down on the couch, curiosity got the better of him, and he began flipping through its pages. The notebook contained deeply personal reflections, penned by the professor’s hand —nostalgic memories, frustrations, and heartfelt confessions. Among them, he discovered something unexpected: pages filled with thoughts about him.  

“Is most of this… about me?” he asked aloud, surprised as he read the notebook.  

Tucked between its pages was a particularly moving confession:  

Sergio,

I’m not a man of sweet words; I never have been. But I feel like there’s something about you that makes me want to try.

Since I met you, your presence, your nervous laughter, the way you face each day with humility and determination; it’s all touched something in me. 

I admire the calmness you bring to situations where I lack it. I notice how you find reasons to laugh even in uncomfortable moments and how you make excuses just to keep me from worrying about you. But with me, you don’t need to pretend or put up appearances. 

My feelings for you are genuine. I just want you to know that.

The custodian —overwhelmed— pressed his lips against the page, with a kiss. “Lucas, this has undone me,” he thought.  

Tears welled in his eyes, and he shut them tightly, determined not to cry. This romantic side of Lucas was something Sergio had never expected, and he felt deeply privileged to have read these words.  

The professor entered the room and noticed Sergio holding the notebook. With a small, playful smirk, he broke the silence. “Well, you’re my first and only friend. This is all your fault. I don’t know how you managed it, but... man, you did.”

Closing the notebook, Sergio looked up at him, his emotions clearly written on his face. “Jokes aside, I never imagined you’d write something like this… about me,” he said softly. “I’m flattered. Truly. Thank you.”  

Lucas sat down beside him, his expression earnest as he took the custodian’s face gently in his hands. His green eyes met Sergio’s, conveying a depth of sincerity that words alone couldn’t express.  

“I’m the one who should be thanking you,” Lucas replied.  

His boyfriend smiled, madly in love. Without another word, he leaned in, pressing his lips to Lucas’s in a passionate kiss.
