My family is on the run from a gang. If we stay we will most certainly die. Many have fled these lands for the same reason. Of course most go seeking a better life but we are going just for the chance to keep our lives. Our parents have spent their life savings buying a guide. They're our best option if we want to make it past the border. I know we have not left yet but I'm already missing my home. Due to the distance we can barely bring anything with us. I also must leave behind my friends and the memories we've made here. And even with a guide our escape is uncertain. If we are caught before we can make it over the border or if we're deported after making it the only thing that awaits our return is death. My thoughts were interrupted by my mother's voice "We leave tonight." The pressure of those words came like a boulder on our shoulders. But we nodded our heads in understanding because if we were to speak we could no longer hold back our tears.
To anyone confused why their running from a gang the Mc father decided he could no longer continue working for them. The only reason he was in it to begin was do to the fact that his brother borrowed money from the gang and ran away before paying it back so the father was forced to join for the sake of the family. But he doesn't wish for his family to live in constant fear and for his children to believe that line of work is alright so he and the family must take this risk for the hope of a better tomorrow.
Taking a risk his father abandons the gang he was forced into 10 years ago after his brother borrowed money and ran. But now their family must flee their home and cross the border to gain the chance of survival. Otherwise they will most certainly die. Will they be able to make it across? And if they do will they be welcomed?
