Pyrops karenius (Hemiptera: Fulgoridae) is a lanterfly species reported in Burma, Thailand, and the Karen Hills of India. It may look flashy, but the shape and colour actually merges really well on trees.
Pretty! Regions of the US are having problems with the invasive spotted lanternfly, Lycorma delicatula, which isn't as colorful. I've only seen a few and it's still early detection in my area, which I'm glad of because while looking at pictures is usually okay, they are fairly big and i don't do as well encountering them in person 😅
