Scene: A late evening call
As her phone rings, Riya is enjoying a cup of tea on her balcony. It's Aarav.
Riya: answering with a smile Late-night calls already? You’re moving fast, Aarav.
Aarav: giggling It's not that late! I wanted to see if you were still conscious.
Riya: Well, I am now. What’s up?
Aarav I needed your input on this idea. What are your thoughts on last-minute plans?
Riya: raising an eyebrow Impromptu plans? I feel like I need more context.
Aarav: There’s a new art exhibit opening tomorrow. I thought it might be inspiring for your writing... and, well, I could use a little culture.
Riya: Gawking Easy. I'll go, okay, Aarav. However, that is, if you are paying for the expensive coffee that is routinely served at these gatherings.
Aarav: Done. Pick you up at 6?
Riya: Deal.
Scene: The art exhibit
The exhibit is set up in a contemporary gallery with soft lighting and lofty ceilings. Aarav and Riya stroll throughout the room, which is filled with sculptures and abstract paintings..
Riya: staring at a large, chaotic painting What do you think this one means?
Aarav: tilting his head Honestly? It looks like my code after a 12-hour workday.
Riya: bursting into laughter You’re hopeless.
Aarav: grinning Hey, I’m here for the company, not the art.
They continue walking, pausing at a sculpture of two figures intertwined.
Riya: This one’s beautiful. Look at how their hands almost touch but don’t quite meet.
Aarav: quietly It’s like they’re caught in a moment, isn’t it? That space between connection and distance.
Riya: looking at him You surprise me sometimes, Aarav.
Aarav: smiling softly Good. I’d hate to be predictable.
Scene: Outside the gallery
They walk along the street, the city alive with lights and sounds.
Aarav: Thanks for coming tonight. I don’t know much about art, but I’m glad I came.
Riya: smiling Me too. It was... different. Good different.
Aarav hesitates, then speaks.
Aarav: Riya, can I ask you something?
Riya: teasing Is this about your code again?
Aarav: chuckling No. I just... you’ve known me for a little while now. What do you think of me?
Riya: caught off guard That’s a loaded question.
Aarav: smiling nervously Humor me.
Riya: contemplating I believe you to be sincere. You have a way of making people feel at ease and are a pleasure to chat to. Why?
Aarav: shrugging Just wanted to know. You’re not too bad yourself, you know.
Riya: laughing I’ll take that as a compliment.
Scene: A rainy afternoon – A quiet café
Aarav and Riya sit by a window, watching the rain. Their cups of chai are nearly empty.
Riya: Do you ever think about the future?
Aarav: Sometimes. Why?
Riya: I don’t know. It’s just... meeting you has been unexpected. I’m not sure where this is going, but I like where we are.
Aarav: nodding The same is true here. I'm taking my time defining it. All I want to do is watch where this leads.
Riya: smiling softly Me too.
