Chapter 7: Bullies and Band Of Weirdos

Chapter 7: Bullies and Band Of Weirdos

Feb 10, 2025

Bullies. I just don't get them. Why would they discriminate against someone who doesn't know the perspective of others? Don't they understand that people they bully don't want to be like that? Do they know the trouble we have to face as a disabled person!? To multicultural groups? We just want a better life. Don't we have the right to have that? America is the land of the free. Freedom of all. Do we not get the freedom of living a better life? I am sick of many things in the world, and one of them is bullies who discriminate against others just to look cool.

The suspected "bullies" in my class sit down in the back right on the glass. While me, Victoria, and Tatsuya sit in the front left of the class. The class was still loud, even after Mr. Adams came.

"That's enough, kids!" Mr. Adams called out.

The class went silent.

"Everyone, welcome to a new year. Welcome to Grade One. My name is Adam DuPont. Your new classroom teacher. Any questions for me?" Mr. Adams asked.

A girl in the middle row raised her hand.

"Yes, what is it?" Mr. Adams asked.

"You speak funny. Are you French?" the girl asked.

"Oui, I am indeed half French. I grew up in Moustiers-Sainte-Marie. You might not know where that is. Enough questions about me. As part of the school protocol, each one of you is going to come in front and introduce yourselves. Let's begin from the back. You over there, come here," Mr. Adams said and pointed to the boy who is in the back right. One of the "bullies" that Victoria claimed them to be.

One by one, students come to the front. Each with unique names and personalities. Then suddenly it was Tatsuya's turn.

"You, the boy with the bangs," Mr. Adams said.

Tatsuya suddenly got surprised.

"M-Me?" Tatsuya asked, scared.

"Who else? Hurry up now, time is ticking," Mr. Adams said.

Tatsuya then started to tremble. Seeing him like that made me sad. So I put my hands up and said,

"If Tatsuya's going to introduce himself, and I'm also going to introduce myself, I want to do it together with Tatsuya!"

Victoria then out of nowhere stood up.

"If Rhoa can introduce herself with Tatsuya, I want to join them too," Victoria said suddenly.

"Settle down, you three," Mr. Adams said and then started slowly looking at us. After glaring at me, Tatsuya, and Victoria for a few seconds he said,

"Fine. Come on, you three."

I got wheeled by Victoria, while Tatsuya walked next to me to go in front of the class.

We then lined up in an awkward line. It was silent until,

"Hello, everyone! I'm Rhoa! Nice to meet you all. These are my friends," I said while I pulled Victoria and Tatsuya's uniform.

"He-hel- hello e-every-everyone. M-my na-na-name's Tat-Tat-Tat—" Before finishing the sentence a boy from the back yelled,

"Tat, tat, tat what! Stutter bug! What a weirdo, hahahah!" he said.

The whole class then starts laughing. Tatsuya then tucked his head down. He was crying.

"Hey mean boy!" I screamed. "How would you feel if you were being laughed at? Huh?" I asked.

"Oh look, Wheelchair Girl is helping Weirdo Boy," the boy said.

Suddenly, "Hey! If you wanna hurt Rhoa, you got to go through me first," Victoria said.

"Now Super Girl's here too. What is this? A band of weirdos," the boy said.

Victoria then sprinted her way and slapped his face so hard.

"Yeah? So what? Huh?" she said.

The boy then cried, suddenly the whole class was now laughing at the boy.

"Anyways, let's not talk about that crybaby. My name's Victoria. Call me Vic," Victoria said.

Mr. Adams was watching but he was letting this slip for us.

Victoria then comes back in front.

"And that's us. I know some of us don't look like you. Take me, for example. I can't walk. But that doesn't mean every part of me is different. We're still more or less the same. So please try to get along with us," I said.

Victoria then clapped their hands, followed by the entire class and a little clap from Mr. Adams.

"Good job, you three. You're not so bad after all, Rhoa," Mr. Adams said while clapping.

I was flattered. I finally earned his respect. While all of that is happening, you could feel the "bully" kids were glaring at me. We then returned to our seats.

"Alright, now everybody. For our first period we're all going to do science. Bring your Notebook, Stationeries now," Mr. Adams said.

I then grabbed everything.

"Victoria, please help Rhoa, please," Mr. Adams said.

"Alright, Sir," Victoria said.

"Tatsuya-kun, come on. Let's go!" I said excitedly to learn.

"O-Okay," Tatsuya responded.

As I get wheeled forward, I feel like Tatsuya was falling behind. I looked behind and saw him moving more slowly than us.

"Tatsuya-kun! What's wrong?" I asked.

He then suddenly ran forward to go beside me and turned to me and bowed.

"Thank you so much for helping me today, Rhoa," Tatsuya said while bowing.

"No problem. If you need anything from me just tell me," I said.

"A-Alright," Tatsuya said.

"Hey Tatsuya. I'm also ready to help you, you know?" Victoria said.

"O-Okay, Victoria," Tatsuya said, with a shy voice like usual.

We then moved to the science room, where we had a few lessons about animals and tastes. Then we moved for math class, we learned how to add. After a few other lessons, it was finally time to get home.

Victoria, of course, wheeled me out with Tatsuya walking beside us.

"Hey, why don't we go to my house today?" I asked.

"Sure," said Victoria.

"How about you, Tatsuya-kun?" I asked.

"I-I-I got to ask my parents. Fi-first," Tatsuya said.

Then when we get outside and then a woman that looks like Tatsuya approaches us.

"Tatsuya honey!" the woman said and ran to Tatsuya, then hugged him.

"I missed you," the woman said. Then she stood up and looked at us.

"Oh, who are these two beautiful ladies next to Tatsuya?" she asked.

"Hello ma'am, I'm Rhoa, Tatsuya's friend, and this is Victoria, also Tatsuya's friend," I said, Victoria doing a small curtsy.

"Hmmm, I see. I'm Tatsuya's mother. Call me... Auntie Tat. Come on, Tatsuya!" Auntie Tat said.

"M...Mom, can I... I go... to... Rh... Rhoa's home?" Tatsuya asked.

"Hmmm. Rhoa, are your parents home?" Auntie Tat asked.

"My aunt isn't home. She's at work," I replied.

"How about if you two come to Tatsuya's house instead?" Auntie Tat asked.

"Sure! How about you, Vic?" I said.

"Sure," Victoria replied.

"Okaay let me order a taxi. Wait here," Auntie Tat said.

"Auntie Tat, you could use my car instead. If you want to at least," I offered.

"Your... what now?" Auntie Tat said, confused.

"Yeah. My driver's waiting right there," I said.

"Oh, I see. Let's use Rhoa's car then!" Auntie Tat said.

We then head to the car. Finally, I have a friend other than Victoria! It's time to impress Tatsuya! I gotta do it! Off we go, to Tatsuya's house!

To be continued....
