Chapter 16: I Forgive You.

Chapter 16: I Forgive You.

Feb 18, 2025

As I told Tatsuya tightly, I remembered the memories from the times we were together. The times where we would visit his house and play all evening, the times where we would follow each other one class after another. Before Auntie left me, when times were happy and went in a blink of an eye, before times were sad and went so slow. When I would’ve smiled all day from morning to midnight, to the sorrow days and nights. Tatsuya made me remember all that. Tatsuya made me grateful for what I once had, and taught me that I could be happy again, if I tried hard enough.

Before I noticed, I was hugging Tatsuya for too long.

“Hey Rhoa. Can you let go of me?” Tatsuya said while in the process of suffocating from my tight hug.

I let go.

“Sorry. I just missed you so much,” I said, making excuses. What I really wanted was to hug and love Tatsuya.

Before I could have noticed, I fell in love with Tatsuya. His handsome and cute face, his cute and always embarrassed personality, and his kindness and empathy made me fall for him. Just spending time with him made me happy. But now I need more. I don’t want to be just his friend. I want him to be my everything, and I as his everything. That's when it struck me. We’ve been apart for so long. Is this the same Tatsuya I know?

From his appearance, it isn’t. He’s changed. He was from a short, long-haired, cute boy to a tall, handsome, bad-boy appearance. What if he’s not the person I know? I took another long pause, thinking. What if he already found the one? What if I was too late and too scared to make him mine, someone else made him theirs? What if because of my disability, he won’t accept me for who I was?

My disability. Everything in my life, my disability always gets in the way. Everywhere I go, everyone I’m with. Everything I want, everything I don’t want. My disability is the one who decides my fate. They don’t care about anything else. They don’t care about my personality, they only care about the fact that I can’t walk.

I just need someone to accept me for who I am. I need someone who accepts my disability and appreciates it. Appreciates how hard it is for me to wake up every day and face the world with this burden I go with every day.

As I stared blindly, thinking and thinking, when all of a sudden there was a voice. Calling me.

“Rhoa. Rhoa,” Tatsuya said.

I snapped out of my thoughts.

“Yeah?” I said.

“Hey. You could talk about it. I know you’ve been through a lot. With your Aunt and stuff,” Tatsuya said.

“How did you know?” I asked.

“Me and Victoria keep in touch, and I always ask about you,” Tatsuya said.

“Oh really,” I said, starting to get flustered.

“Yeah. I care about you, Rhoa,” Tatsuya said.

“What’s all this talk about caring, ei?” I said, now completely flustered.

“We’re friends. Of course we care about each other,” Tatsuya said.

“Friends… Huh,” I said, disappointed. Then the phone rang.

It was Victoria.

“Who is it?” Tatsuya said.

“Victoria,” I said.

I picked up the phone.

“Heyy Rhoa. So. How did it go with Tatsuya?” Victoria asked excitedly over the phone.

“It went well,” I said.

“Good! Dad and I are gonna pick you up, alright? Be ready and wait outside,” Victoria said.

“Alright. I’ll see you here,” I said, then hung up the phone.

“So. Victoria huh? How is it living with her? Is it weird or something?” Tatsuya asked.

“None of your business. I have to go now,” I said. I then wheeled myself from the front of the house to the sidewalk.

“Wait, Rhoa!” Tatsuya said, and ran to go inside his house.

I then waited by the sidewalk.

Tatsuya then ran to me from his house holding a red scarf. Then he stood next to me and my wheelchair, and he then wrapped the scarf around my neck.

I then looked up to him, and he looked at me while still holding the scarf. He then smiled.

“It’s cold. You can use this. Don’t want you getting sick, right?” he said while smiling and looking down at me, slowly but surely wrapping and positioning my scarf around my neck.

I couldn’t stop falling for him. I wanted to stop so badly, to not fall for him. But it was too late, I fell for him hard. I don’t know if he’s doing it to seduce me, or if he's just too kind. But I want him to be mine, and I will.

Mr. Victor’s car then arrived. Mr. Victor and Victoria opened their windows.

“What are you two up to?” Victoria asked.

“Nothing,” Tatsuya and I said, surprised, looking away from each other, trying to hide what happened.

“Victoria. Haven’t seen you for a while,” Tatsuya said, trying to change the topic.

“I’m fine. How about you and Rhoa? Did you two talk it out?” Victoria asked with a sneaky tone.

“It worked out fine,” Tatsuya said.

“Alright. That’s enough of whatever this is,” Mr. Victor said. He then opened his door and went out. He opened the back door where Victoria was. She then moved to the left side of the car to make room for me.

“Hop on in now,” Mr. Victor said. I then stood up while holding Mr. Victor and hopped into the car. Mr. Victor then went to the back, opened the luggage compartment, picked up my wheelchair, and placed it inside. Closing the luggage door, he went back inside to the driver’s seat.

“Say goodbye to Tatsuya now,” Mr. Victor said.

“Byee, Tatsuya,” I said while looking at him from the window.

“See you in school?” Tatsuya asked.

“Yeah.. See you in school,” I said, happily.

We then started to move away from Tatsuya’s house.

“So how did it go?” Victoria asked, excitedly curious.

“Classified,” I said.

“Rhoa.” Mr. Victor said, out of nowhere.

“Yes, Mr. Victor?” I asked.

“Later when we arrive home, Mrs. Victor and I would like to talk. About something important. Please, after changing your clothes, go to the living room,” Mr. Victor said.

“Alright,” I said.

“What are you gonna talk about, Dad?” Victoria asked.

“As Rhoa said, ‘Classified,’” Mr. Victor said.
