Geez, what a cliffhanger... Umeko being the one who was actually still alive got teased a couple of times throughout the story, but it was always shown in an ambigious way that could imply multiple possibilities. I think the biggest giveaway was the cover of the first chapter, where I got asked quite often why Umeko looked almost alive and with her body and clothing being pristine at her funeral. It was actually a drawing with the same clothing as the 6th panel of this page, which means the first chapter cover wasn't her funeral, but her lying in the hospital bed.
But if you're completely confused right now, don't worry, Kami seems to feel similar and there will be explanations on the following pages too hahah! I just wish I didn't have to end on a cliffhanger for now!
