"Amber?" A voice surprised the silence. Amber shot up and remembered she did not close the dorm room door. "Chris??" Her tired expression turned excited within a heartbeat as she bent sideways to confirm her suspicion. Chris was right outside of the dorm room, wearing the uniform. "How's your first day?" He smiled warmly. The pink girl ran to hug him, giving him a light embrace. "I missed you." She pouted. Chris patted her head. "I have a surprise for you!" He exclaimed, hugging her back. In front of Amber's eyes, Chris held a huge cookie. Her eyes turned into shining crystals, savagely snatching the cookie and taking a big bite out of it. "Pfft-" Chris snickered at her eating style.
"I see you never changed, Piggy." He joked out loud, pointing at her immaturely.
"I see you never changed, JACKASS!" Amber retorted, jumping on top of Chris and bonked his head. "How dare you call your big bro that?! My feelings are hurt!" The browned hair man dramatically sobbed on the floor.
Darius froze up. His reputation was at stake, and he did not want to take part in this awkward meeting. He stood up and smirked. "Howdy, sis." He was severely uncomfortable, but hey, who cared? Darlyn closed her eyes and waved to the direction of where he could display his skills.
The newbie soldiers were trying to take pictures of them on their phones. "Aren't they the Gomez twins??" "I heard their family was incredibly rich!" "Both of them are gorgeous!"
Darius knew how to use the suit because ever since he was able to walk, his father took him and Darlyn to training classes. Their training classes were mandatory, having to train in several martial arts, extreme challenges, and more. It was to prepare Darius for this moment. The moment where the Gomez family will be known as one of the most prestigious families in the world.
He took a shuttered breath, and pressed the triangle. The silence was full of high expectations and unknowingness.
Slowly, he floated upwards. He started to spin faster, and faster, and spin full spin in the air like a cradle then swooshing down like an airplane. Then, he started displaying his middle fingers while spinning upside in the air. Amber, coming back to witness this, started bursting into laughter. "HAHAHAHAHAHA!" She couldn't handle herself. Darius did the moonwalk, macarena, every trendy dance you know. It entertained the audience very well, but Darlyn was not happy about it.
"Enough!" She yelled out. "Go back to your seat."
Darius laughed along with everyone else, "Yes sis." He sat back at his seat. Everyone gave him a standing ovation. The clapping and the roaring was a bit too much for Blake, with the pain was stringing his insides out. The lights were thumping and pulsing, and the dark grays were turning into white. Ima sneaked onto the bleachers and ran to Blake, pulling his leg. "Blakey, Blakey!" Blake did not respond. The sea of people in front of him started looking like statuesque blurs and the voices no longer seemed near. Ima saw Blake hold his leg in pain, sweat dripping from his forehead.
Darlyn stomped her feet. "Our first exercise will be practicing your float. There will be a floating exam in 2 weeks and if you don't meet the requirement of 12 feet in the air, then you will be kicked out of the army with no chances of coming back." With her hands, she put a hand above her head to depict the distance. "Triangulo Servios." Everyone said in unison. "Thank you." Darlyn said, signaling everyone to get off the bleachers. "Start floating."
Part of the newbie army was middle aged men and women, a few were senior citizens. Most of them were teenagers. Blake walked out from the bleachers, the floor feeling like a forever anchor. His shoulders felt heavy, along with the heavy armor on his chest. He looked above himself and saw people fly onto the ceiling. How did they do it?
Blake did not understand. Any Mono would fail under these conditions. He thought about the voice inside his head from earlier. "I can't give up now." He pushed himself up and pressed the triangle in his core, floating for a second, then BAM! falling head straight into the ground.
Before, when he felt that anger seethe into his veins, he found himself flying. But why did it seem way more harder now? He was tired and exhausted, yes, but that's how he felt all the time. It shouldn't have been a big factor, right? He tried pushing his own weight off the ground, only to have his body snap back to the ground like a magnet. His staggered breath shaking with uncertainty, staring at the sounds above him.
Darius and Amber were busy brawling each other like little children. They were grabbing each other's hair, scratching and biting each other. The anti gravitational device was literally fueling their fight. "Bitch ass peasant little shit-" It seemed like none of them were having as many problems as Blake.
The crowds of people mumbling in the distance, automatically became silent.
Darius stopped in his tracks when he turned his head to see what was going on.
There were too many people to see...but he knew the whispers and the gossip. He was pissed off from all the turmoils life had thrown at him.
"The mayor's daughter!!"
"Isn't she one of the best??"
"I need to take a picture..."
People's phones started to flash and the volume creaked up, as the combination of loud whispers reigned.
"Please, I need to see her, get out of the way!"
He sensed the familiar sound of electricity from meters away.
Bzzt...
Bzzt....
The blood ran cold beneath his back, and he felt his hairs rise up.
Darius wanted to run away but his body froze. He was hoping he could turn invisible. He didn't like feeling like this, no- he hated feeling like this. He could feel his heart pulse inside his chest...a faint beating sound. He held his breath. Amber didn't notice this and crossed her arms. "Did you finally give up??" She scratched her head when Darius continued being silent.
He could feel the sounds getting closer, and closer.
Tip...Tap.....
Tip.....Tap.......
Tip...
Tap....
Then he felt a painful grip on his right shoulder. It twisted him the opposite way, blue electricity sparkles flying in the air. He was forced to stare in the direction she was in.
Her pink glossy lips. A periwinkle bob. And her red eyes were reinforced with mascara.
She had a snarky smile on her face when spinning the green haired boy.
"Long time no see~ babe."
