After dinner I head back up to my room. I look at the time and see it is already past 9:00. I lay on my bed and scroll through instagram for a few hours. 

I look over at the time and it is 1:00 am. Holy shit how'd it get so late? I guess I won’t be going to bed early tonight. 

I go to my bathroom and brush my teeth before I lay back down on my bed and go to sleep.

A few weeks have passed since me and Milo made that bet. Neither of us have made much progress. He hasn't because he's scared and I haven’t  because I am not interested in anyone right now.

I told Milo how it's not fair because he already likes someone so he has a head start. He told me to “suck it up” and that I should “go after Olivia.” I liked Olivia last year. I don’t know how many times I have to tell him I don’t like her anymore.

When I got to school on Monday I sat down in my normal seat in first period and James turned to me. 

“Hey, dude!”

“Hey James…? What's with the excitement on a Monday morning?”

“Have you heard?!”

“Heard what…?”

“There's a new kid coming tomorrow. I heard its a guy and he's in our grade.”

“Damn…must be tough changing schools senior year.”

“Yea? Well that's beside the point. I also heard he is really good at soccer.”

“Nice. It'd be good to have a fresh player on the team.”

“Are you really not excited about this?”

“Well, one: I don't really care, and two: he might be a complete jerk.”

“Well yeah…but he might be a nice guy!”

“Whatever you say.” I end the conversation right when the teacher walks in the room.

Class starts and I somehow make it through without falling asleep.

I'm in third period when the intercom comes on and tells me to go to the front office.

I go and I'm a bit confused since I don’t think I've done anything bad yet this year. What could I possibly be in trouble for?

The principal is waiting for me.

“Hello, Aiden.” she says.

“Hello?”

“I just wanted to ask if you could show the new kid around tomorrow. If you can’t or don’t want to, that's totally okay but I think you could be good friends with him.”

“I could do it.” I shrug.

“Great! Come to the front office before first period tomorrow. He will be waiting here. You will just have to show him around.”

“Ok. I’ll… see you tomorrow then…” I turn and walk out of the room.

By now third period is over and lunch has started. I walk into the cafeteria and head to the table by the wall where my friends and I usually sit. I go over and everyone is already sitting at the table.

“Why were you called to the office?” Kayden asks. He's in my third period so he heard me get called.

“I have to show the new kid around tomorrow.” I answer.

“Oh. Cool.”
