Selena had been waiting since morning, her eyes constantly scanning their usual meeting place. The sun had shifted in the sky, and as the afternoon stretched on, worry crept into her heart.
Jack, where are you?
The longer she waited, the more restless she became. Did something happen? Why hasn’t he shown up?
Finally, unable to shake the uneasy feeling, she decided to go looking for him. She hurried toward the bridge—their special spot—her heart pounding with both concern and anticipation.
And then she saw him.
Standing near the railing, hands tucked into his pockets, was Jack.
The golden sunlight bathed him in a warm glow, making his brown hair look even softer, his strong features even more defined. The way the wind tousled his hair, the way he stood so casually yet confidently—it made her breath hitch.
But more than that, relief flooded through her.
“Jack!” Selena called out, hurrying toward him.
Jack turned, and the moment their eyes met, something in Selena’s heart squeezed.
“Why are you only here now?” she demanded, her voice laced with a mix of frustration and relief. “I thought something happened to you!”
Jack sighed, running a hand through his hair. “Sorry, Selena. I had something urgent to attend to.”
Selena pursed her lips, crossing her arms. “I thought you really wouldn’t come anymore,” she admitted, her voice softer now. “And if that happened, I would’ve been mad.” She lowered her gaze. “I can’t handle not seeing you every day.”
Jack’s expression shifted—something unreadable flickered in his eyes. Then, before she could react, he stepped closer, his voice lower, softer.
“Selena…” He paused, then let out a small chuckle. “You have no idea how happy I am to hear that.”
Her breath hitched. What is he saying?
Before she could ask, the sound of a song suddenly filled the air.
A slow, romantic melody played from a nearby speaker—a love song, the kind that made hearts race and feelings bloom in the air.
Jack smirked slightly, tilting his head. “Perfect timing, huh?”
Selena felt her cheeks warm as she listened to the lyrics, realizing just how fitting they were. It was as if the universe itself had chosen this song just for them.
Jack extended a hand toward her, a playful yet gentle look in his eyes.
“Dance with me?”
Her heart pounded wildly. Right here, right now?
With people around, with the wind rustling through the trees, with the golden afternoon light making everything feel almost magical?
A part of her wanted to protest, but another part—the part that belonged to Jack from the very beginning—already knew the answer.
Selena slowly placed her hand in his, feeling the warmth of his palm against hers.
As Jack pulled her close, swaying gently to the music, Selena couldn’t help but smile.
Because in this moment, nothing else mattered.
Just him.
Just them.
And the love that grew stronger with every passing second.
